Hi everyone!

Winter training is in full swing. It's far from glamorous, but so important, with sweat-soaked trainer rides, chilly outdoor swims, and miles logged in a hibernating world that is waiting for spring!

I have made some changes in my diet and I am feeling healthier and stronger and my energy has returned. You can read about that here in my blog.

I am kicking off the season with the new Surf City Escape Tri in Huntington Beach, California on April 22nd. The Escape Tri Series offers an amazing short-course race experience with other events in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Lake Tahoe, London, and Beijing, so check it out!

My race schedule is included below. I hope to see you at the races!

Diet Modifications netting Health, Strength, Energy, and Speed

The transition from being 100% plant based to incorporating animal products into my diet has been challenging as I expected, but I am feeling stronger and executing training exactly as planned. (For background on this see  2017 Year of Health in Review.) I've gained about 6 lbs, I have more energy in training, and I have yet to have a niggle or any health issues this winter. Overall I am very happy since nailing my training is my main focus right now and not necessarily how I feel or look.
I have not changed THAT much in my daily eating regimen.

Breakfast still consists of....

Behind the Scenes of Winter Training
Long ride done in 70 degrees but with crazy winds. Thankful for training partners who are always so happy to explore with me and for my Trek Speed Concept!
Feeling strong in the water with TYR and Juice Performer!
Indoor training need not be lonely!
Seeing the return of solid times on the track - it's not easy at 5500ft!
It took 4 years in Colorado but I finally tried skiing!!! And I loved it! Best part is discovering and meeting new people on the gondola and ski lifts
