Film Screening:
Cold Mountain
Sunday 02/07 @ 5 pm

Join us for a showing of the 2003 movie adaptation of Cold Mountain, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Charles Frazier - the story of a wounded deserter from the Confederate army close to the end of the American Civil War, who is on his way to return to the love of his life.

Film Screening:
12 Years a Slave
Sunday 02/21 @ 5 pm

12 Years a Slave is a 2013 period drama film and an adaptation of the 1853 slave narrative memoir Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free African-American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C., in 1841 and sold into slavery.

Family Event:
Sharing Family Legacies
Saturday 02/27 @ 11 am

One Book, One Philly's children selection is Jacqueline Woodson's beautiful picture book Show Way, which tells the story of the women in her family from an enslaved girl sold away from her parents through activists, artists, women who used their strengths to hold their families together, women who raised their children to expect more and take action.

In "Sharing Family Legacies," we'll be sharing this beautiful book, and inviting parents and grandparents to share family stories of resilience, resistance, community, and change. Photos, political buttons, protest flyers and other memorabilia are welcome!
