volunteers is presenting three K-12 teacher workshops July 13 at the U.S. National Science Teachers Association STEM conference and simultaneously launching web postings of compiled One Health Educational materials, K-12 (primary/secondary) and beyond. June 25, 2018 One Health Day 2017 Student Event Competition Awards presented
|
Student Teams from Makerere University (Africa) and from Iowa (USA) received award presentations at the Opening Ceremony of the
5th International One Health Congress
in Saskatoon, Canada. Awards were jointly presented by Cheryl Stroud (One Health Commission), Lisa Conti and Laura Kahn (One Health Initiative) and Ab Osterhaus (One Health Platform). Receiving certificates for the winning student teams were Dr. Irene Naigaga for the Makerere students and Neil Vezeau for the One Health Iowa Student team. Each team will receive $2,000 USD in award money provided by the One Health Commission and the One Health Platform. See

Last November the One Health Commission put out a
press release
calling Social Scientists to get actively involved in leading for One Health. Over 70 social scientists from around the world responded and are now creating working groups to advocate for and teach about One Health from their perspective. The next OH-SS online meeting is on Monday, July 16. Two meetings will be held that day, 10 am Eastern Daylight and 10 pm Eastern Daylight, to accommodate time zones across the globe. All current undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate trainees as well as GH practitioners are invited to submit essays to reflect upon the meaning and lessons learned from global health experiences. The impacts of these experiences on professional devel-opment and personal growth are re-vealed in new partnerships, insights into cross-cultural or ethical issues and ideas for change.
