One-on-One  with IACP President Baylor Rice, RPh, FIACP

IACP President Baylor Rice, RPh, FIACP
Has it almost been a year? They say time flies when you're having fun, and this certainly has been true for me in 2017! When I became your IACP President last December, I  wrote you about all the things I wanted to accomplish during my term.

Looking back at this list - I am so proud on how much we have accomplished  TOGETHER !  We've got more to do, and I am excited on what we can still get done before 2018 arrives. I'd like to keep talking with you about our efforts, and so you can expect a series of communications from me.

One of the best things we did this year was hire new  Executive Vice President Cynthia Blankenship, Esq. In her brief tenure as EVP, Cynthia has brought a burst of high-octane energy into our world. Read her  Member Initiatives Progress Report and you will get an idea of just how much has been accomplished! After you read these Member Initiatives, you will understand that we are undergoing a dramatic revitalization at IACP. A transformation that is designed specifically for  YOU the member.

We're looking at everything, and asking ourselves, does this truly serve our members? Are we providing information in a way that's timely, helpful and user-friendly? And bottom-line, are we empowering you the member, your pharmacy, and your ability to serve your patients while protecting the right to do so!

Please keep reading our Member Initiative Progress Reports, and tell us where we're hitting the mark, and where we still need to work. Your feedback is incredibly important! On that note - have you completed our  Membership Survey ? Please take a few minutes to complete this piece. This survey is the first step and the first change of many that IACP will be taking to make sure we are providing you with the tools you need! We need your input, your feedback, and to hear from YOU. We're only going to get better, and be a key ally for you and your practice IF we have your feedback. It's that important
Clarifying Our Fundraising Mission:

As IACP President over the past year, I've had many members ask me about IACP's fundraising efforts. What's the best way to support IACP and all of the member initiatives we have in progress? What funds and efforts need my contributions the most? What are the missions/objectives for each of IACP's fundraising opportunities? How is my money being used?

Thank you for the opportunity to provide more information on our fundraising initiatives. I appreciate your questions, and encourage you to keep asking them!

Here is an overview I hope will provide clarity on our fundraising efforts.  Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

IACP Foundation

Mission:  Support the quality, integrity, and advancement of pharmacy compounding and its practitioners for the benefit of patients through research and education.

Ways to Give:

* Foundation Donations - Since IACP's inception in 1991, the practice of pharmacy compounding has evolved from an endangered industry to a strong and steady presence in the pharmacy profession. In an effort to continue advancing the practice of pharmacy compounding, in early 2003, IACP established a non-profit 501(c)3 educational foundation. The IACP Foundation serves as the charitable extension of IACP and is used to conduct educational and scientific programming and research.

* Rx Mixer, held in conjunction with IACP's Compounders on Capitol Hill (CCH), raises money benefiting the IACP Foundation.

* Fund-the-Future Pharmacy Student Programs - The IACP Foundation's Fund-the-Future program raises monies to bring pharmacy students to two of the most important events in pharmacy compounding - Compounders on Capitol Hill (CCH) and the IACP Educational Conference.

How Your Money Works Through the Foundation:

* Sponsoring educational programs for healthcare professionals and the public about the importance and necessity of compounded medications in the health of human and animal patients;

* Funding research initiatives that enhance the quality, and safety of compounded medications;

* Supporting pharmacy student education about compounded medications and the importance of the involvement in a professional organization that ultimately helps their patients have access to compounded medications.
IACP Compounding Political Action Committee (COMP PAC)

Mission: IACP COMP PAC's mission is to strategically support federal and state candidates who are compounding pharmacy advocates, and further identify those candidates who will continually appreciate the vital role pharmacy compounding serves. IACP COMP PAC works closely with our lobbying firm and other pharmacy organizations to align our messaging to Congress, but we also work in concert in our donation efforts, giving a clear message that we support those Candidates that support compounding.

Ways to Give:

* PAC appreciates your Donations! Your hard-earned money is used wisely, as the PAC team judiciously identifies Congressional candidates who are worthy of your money.

* PAC Events

a. Educational Conference Reception - join us for a small get together, and mingle with other leaders in our profession. This reception includes a Congressman that is pro-compounding, who will appreciate hearing from you as you share your issues in the pharmacy compounding space. In turn, he/she will provide their perspective on pharmacy related issues at the Hill, and specifically how they are protecting your profession!

b. CCH PAC Fundraiser Dinner - This is more of a formal dinner, and allows for a more 1:1 time with a Congressman who has done a great job in protecting pharmacy compounding. Whether it is a Congressman who has drafted bills, or even a pharmacist who serves in Congress, this annual event is well received! You'll want to sign up fast, as there are only 30 spots available.

How Your Money Works Through the COMP PAC:

* Provides financial disbursements to federal and state candidates that are pro-compounding, specifically those compounding issues that fulfill IACP's mission of protecting, promoting, and advancing the art of pharmacy compounding.

* Leverages your donations by working with IACP-led DQSA Coalition members to further contribute to Congressmen's efforts.
