Look for an article on page 488 of the May 2017 issue of The CVJ titled,  "Congenital nuclear cataracts in a Holstein dairy herd."

Birth of 3 calves with “white eyes” led to ophthalmic examination of 279 Holstein dairy cattle in 1 herd. Bilateral nuclear cataracts were identified in 53 (19%), all born to multiparous cows. Nutritional, infectious and toxic causes were ruled out. A deletion in the NID1 gene, associated with a similar condition in Romagnola cattle, was not present and pedigree analysis was inconclusive.
