Ray's Weather - a High Country icon
David Still speaks at Banner Elk Kiwanis Club

On June 11, meteorologist David Still updated members of the Kiwanis Club
of Banner Elk on the continuing  growth of Ray's Weather--the project, the 55 weather stations and now five weather forecasters.  Ray Russell, an ASU computer professor, started with an interest in the weather, added computer expertise and a weather station gift from his wife, to grow the popular high country weather forecasting website.  Kiwanis of Banner Elk meets Tuesdays at noon in the Miller Commons of Lees-McRae College.
Visitors are welcome.

No matter where you are in Banner Elk there is beauty.
I took this photo from the parking lot of Lowe's Foods. -Ron

Speaking of Lowe's, here's a note from
John Cox of Feeding Avery Families:
"Just a note to let you all know that Lowes Foods is once again donating their sacks for Feed the Children to FAF.   Truly thankful and picked up 42 bags today.  Included are the following: Peter Pan Peanut Butter, Lowes Saltine Crackers, Lowes canned Mandarin Oranges, Lowes, Tastee O's Cereal and Lowes Tuna.  They are purchased for $7.89 plus tax at either Banner Elk or Newland Lowes."
