THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT!

We're putting together a parade of performers that leads to a block party celebration where the Cabaret resides. Everybody is invited to take part in the parade, which celebrates artists, free speech and community...we're going to have a mile of performers dancing in the street! The parade will start in Matthews Park at 3pm - performers please arrive at 2pm!

The parade route goes down 29th Avenue South and turns toward the Cabaret on 31st Street East -- just under a mile long. We're encouraging everyone to bring something really unique, colorful, and (of course!) entertaining to the street, whatever that may be: walking, biking, dancing, playing, marching, speaking, singing, strutting, swirling, etc.

Here are ideas of what some folks are doing:

-Aerialists will be performing in Matthews Park before the parade
-Musicians will be playing in and at stationed areas along parade route

-Larry Ripp will be "The Baron of Bubble!" entertaining the kids

-Zumba, Modern, and Flamenco dancers will be performing

-Batucada do Norte Brazilian Drum and Dance

-Contact Improv dancers will be performing

-Poetry will be read along the parade route

-Art bikes will be riding with us

-Art Cars of Minnesota

Please contact our Communications & Volunteer Coordinator, Sara Jo Lehrer: sarajo@patrickscabaret.org or 612-724-6273 if you're interested in performing in the parade or volunteering at the event.

As soon as the parade ends, the block party will get started! There will be a stage in our parking lot with live music, local food and business vendors, and free workshops at our indoor theater space from 3:30-7pm.

Block Party Musicians:
 3:30 to 4:15pm - Felonious Bosch
4:30 to 5:15pm - Yasercise
5:30 to 6:15pm - Wolf Mountain
6:30 to 7:15pm - Erik Stoeckeler

Workshops:

4:15 to 4:30pm - Ballroom Dancing
4:30 to 5:00pm - Contact Improv Dance
5:15 to 5:45pm - Open Book Arts and North Star Storytelling League

6:00 - 6:30pm - Hip-Hop Dance

Other Entertainment:

Other businesses and organizations in our community will be celebrating as well -- we want to work together to show everyone a full day of fun in the Longfellow community! So don't forget to ask for specials throughout the day, as many of our neighbors like to entice Cabaret patrons.

After the block party, we will be having a free Cabaret show from 8-10pm, co-curated by Arturo Miles & Patrick Scully. The show will consist of past and present talents who've performed at and essentially grown through the Cabaret. (Suggested donation: $10)

Evening Cabaret Performers:
Khary Jackson
David Hanbury as Mrs. Smith
Arturo Miles
Joan Calof
Howard Lieberman

Venus DeMars

Heidi Arneson
Patrick Scully
Freaky Deeky

And after the show, a dance party will surely ensue...

so be sure to bring your party pants! We are inviting everybody to be part of this event, whether it is through participating, volunteering, or simply attending. So, again, mark that date and keep an eye on our website for more details to come!
