2012 was especially challenging for many New Yorkers. In a city with 1.5 million people already living in poverty, the devastation of Hurricane Sandy only added to the numbers. New York Cares is proud to have been on the frontlines of the disaster recovery efforts since Sandy hit – while simultaneously continuing our ongoing, citywide efforts to bring relief – in the form of SAT tutoring, job training, reading programs, and much more – to all New Yorkers living in poverty.
