SPECIAL EFFECTS IN FUSED GLASS WITH BRAD WALKER
is being held over!  We've booked a second session for June 9, 10 & 11th!

Brad Walker, founder and owner of
www.WarmGlass.com, the largest
internet website devoted to fused and slumped glass, is
leading an exciting 3-day workshop at Harmony!

Brad Walker - Crackle Brad Walker - Bubbles
Brad Walker - Irids Brad Walker - Reactions
Special Effects in Fused Glass with Brad Walker
Monday through Wednesday, June 9th, 10th & 11th at 9:30am each day
$485 Includes Everything (That's All the Supplies for All the Techniques)

Join Brad Walker for a fast-paced, hands-on workshop that will help put pizzazz into your work.

We'll start with the basics of crackle glass -- you'll be doing crackle pieces by noon of the first day -- then explore crackle variations using two colors, metals and more.

You'll learn the principles of reactive glasses, in which the chemicals in certain glasses and metal foils react to create additional colors and special effects.

You'll explore inclusions between layers of glass, including common metals such as copper and brass and more exotic inclusions such as air bubbles, sand and dollar bills.

You'll work with iridized glass and learn how to use glass powder, resist paper and other techniques to make the most of the iridescent effect.

But most of all, you'll leave with a toolbox full of new glass techniques.  Your work will never be the same.

A knowledge of basic fusing principles is very helpful, and the
ability to cut glass is required.

You can bring your lunch each day or add on to our order from Jason's Deli.

DeepDropRingVessel
Deep Drop Ring Vessel Deep Drop-Ring Vessels
with Joyce Sullivan
Two Sundays, June 22 & 29
from 1 to 4pm
$89 plus glass

**Glass Cutting Skills Are Required**

Because of the constraints of kiln forming, fused glass bowls are typically shallow.  In this class, you'll learn to create a vessel that looks more like blown glass than a fused bowl.

You'll learn how to design, cut and set up your blank.  Because of the thickness required, we'll use dams to control the volume of glass.

During the week, each vessel will be fired and slumped.  In the second class session, you'll learn how to remove the rim and finish the edge using the wet saw, wet belt sander and flat lap grinder.

PouredSteppingStone
Poured Mosaic Stepping Stone  Stepping Stone-Dragonfly
with Angela Chandler
Saturday, June 28
from 1 to 5pm
$46 plus glass and kit

**Glass Cutting Skills Required**

Learn to create a stepping stone from scratch.  You'll l
earn how to mix concrete and use reinforcing material
to create a successful 12" round, square or hexagon stepping stone.

Plan to cut your glass ahead of time so that we'll have plenty of time in class for the skills you don't already know.

When cutting glass for a poured stepping stone, it isn't necessary to cut all the small background tesserae like a traditional mosaic.  Your stepping stone needs focal pieces but filling in the background is a personal choice and you can do it either way.

We will provide a kit with all necessary supplies except the glass and the plywood board. The kit will be approximately $42.

You'll learn about how to mix the correct ratio of cement, sand and water to make stones that will last a lifetime.

with Angela Chandler
Saturday, July 19
from 1 to 5pm
$46 plus glass & supplies

**Glass Cutting Skills Recommended**

Lazy Susans have always been one of our most popular mosaic classes.

In this one-day workshop, you'll learn how to transfer the pattern, prepare the substrate, nip and fit glass pieces, and glue your glass to create a stunning Lazy Susan for your dinner table.

Due to the puzzle-like placement of glass pieces, you probably will not finish this project in class.  You can cut larger pieces in advance of class to help with time.  The photo above shows the fruit and borders pre-cut and the background nipped.   We will explain grouting and provide a detailed handout so that you can grout at home.
