Centrally located, once you are in Simcoe County many quiet roadways connect smaller communities and larger centers. Simcoe County has a myriad of trails throughout the county, from abandoned rail lines to waterfront meanders, through many provincial parks and conservation areas.

Cycling Challenges in Ontario

Have you got what it takes?

Cycle in Oxford County this season and help them achieve their 1,000,000 km challenge!

Located in southwest Ontario with Woodstock being the largest town centre, Oxford invites you and your bike to visit and participate. The 1 million km summer bike challenge is about a community coming together, being active and celebrating cycling. Day trippers, weekend visitors and residents can all participate and track their kilometre count on a dedicated website.

Continue without an account if you want to enter kilometres one time only, or if you want to track your kilometres over the summer, create a user profile on the Ride Oxford website.

Looking for local cycling information and wondering what trails or road routes can be conquered in Oxford County to help chip away at the 1 million km's? Visit the new Southwest Ontario page on our website - OntarioByBike.ca/SouthwestOntario

 ------------------------------------------------------------

The Town of Halton Hills has also put a cycling challenge on the table for 2014! The goal is to track 300,000 km on a dedicated website - bikechallenge.ca. If the goal is reached, the participating pledge sponsors will donate a total of $64,000 to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation!

Feel up to it? Log onto the website, register and then regularly add your kilometres to the ever growing total. You can register as an individual or as a family.

Bike Month - Bike To Work Day - May 26

What can often be the worst part of the day can be turned into the best part by riding your bike to work. While not feasible for everyone, those that commute by bike are likely to agree to the benefits which include avoiding and reducing traffic congestion, cost savings and healthier active lifestyles.

Which side of the road would you rather be on?

Celebrate Bike Month in June across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area (GTHA) and participate in any number of the hundred or so fun events scheduled across the larger regional area.

Kick off Bike Month the right way and embrace Bike To Work Day on Monday, May 26. Many group rides and community start points are available throughout the GTHA. Take a pledge to ride, and sign up to win a new bicycle.
