Fun Kids' Classes

Exploring Ceramics with Hannah Janney 
Saturdays, February 7 through 28, 10:00 am to 12 pm, $100 plus $10 materials, Ages 7 & up.

A  fun weekly adventure in clay. Learn hand-building, wheel, sculpture, and glazing techniques.

 

Youth Ceramics Workshop with Amy Marple

Saturdays, 1 pm - 3pm, $100 plus $10 materials fee for four sessions, Ages 9 & up, beginning Saturday, February 14.

A workshop designed for older kids, tweens, and teens. Make decorative and functional pottery using handbuilding, wheel and sculptural techniques.

February's Family Friday: Valentines Open Studio with Kara Laughlin

Friday, February 6, 6:30 - 9:00 pm, $25 per family; pizza, materials and drinks included. All ages.

Artist and author Kara Laughlin will show you how to think outside the prepackaged box in a valentine-making extravaganza! Follow along as we make pop-up valentines, a fortune-teller valentine, and a secret message valentine. Or just come and freestyle-we'll have doilies, glitter, stickers, paper punches, and everything else you need to make cards your valentines will love.


Beginning Stained Glass with Jennifer Pelton
Saturdays, February 7 through March 21, 1 pm to 5 pm; $100 plus tools and materials costs (costs will vary depending on student choices) Age 16 & up.

Jen Pelton will get you started in the art of stained glass! Students will each construct a 12" x 14" panel using the copper foil method. Learn basic color planning and design as well as cutting, foiling, soldering and framing techniques. 


Marvels of Monotype with Jessica Wilson

Sunday, February 8, 2 pm - 5 pm, $80 includes materials fee; Age 16 & up. Class size limited to six students.

Monotype is a fluid medium for artists to experiment with.  In this workshop (second of a series) we will be working with water-based inks and cover viscosity, ghost images, and the use of stencils. 


Master Class: The Artist's Critique with Catherine Hillis

Monday, February 9, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, $5 for LAC Members, $10 for non-members.

The Loudoun Arts Council is partnering with Round Hill Arts Center to present a series of monthly critique sessions with painter Catherine Hillis. Painters may bring up to two pieces of completed artwork to be critiqued.


February's Handy Hour: Starting Seeds Indoors

Friday, February 13, 6:30 - 8:30 pm, $20 plus $5 materials fee; Ages 21 & up.

It may be cold outside, but we can get a jump on spring gardening by learning to start healthy garden plants indoors. Julia Brizendene of Feed Loudoun - Plant a Row for the Hungry will show you how to start seedlings that will thrive. Refreshments included.

Knitting in the Round With Kathy Reed: Handwarmers

Sunday, February 22, 1 pm - 3 pm, $25, Ages 12 & up, * material list will be provided upon registration.

Join Kathy for the second workshop in the series to make a pair of make wrist warmers. Learn:

- to cast on and manage double pointed needles
- joining
- shaping

Required skills:  basic knit and purl stitches.


Painting & Drawing Studio (Life Drawing)
Every Tuesday, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm; $10 per person, Age 18 & up; bring your own drawing supplies.
