She will be recognized at the Women of the Year luncheon April 13th at noon to be held at the Cincinnati Hyatt downtown along with nine other women for being "forward-thinking women who makes Greater Cincinnati a special place to live, have been an integral part of civic life and working tirelessly for the betterment of others."
It would great pleasure if you were able to join the luncheon.

Join Beyond Civility as we present four prominent local leaders, along with Xavier University Professor Gabe Gottlieb, to explore the subject of Implicit Bias.
The panelists will describe their experiences taking the Harvard Implicit Association Tests to measure unconscious biases. Audience members will be invited to participate personally in this important and revealing exploration, and are urged to take one or more of the Harvard Implicit Association tests for free online at
Project Implicit in advance of the program.

WHAT IS ISLAMOPHOBIA?
An exaggerated fear, hatred and hostility toward Islam and Muslims that is perpetuated by negative stereotypes resulting in bias, discrimination and the marginalization and exclusion of Muslims from social, political and civic life. Islamophobia existed before the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, but it has increased in frequency and notoriety throughout the past decade. Through various research vehicles and global polling efforts, Gallup has collected a wealth of data detailing public opinion about various aspects of respect, treatment and tolerance relative to Muslims worldwide. Moderated by Dr. James Buchanan with the Edward B. Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at Xavier University, this community conversation will explore the fear and prejudice against the religion of Islam while working to shape a more inclusive society.

We are pleased to announce a new initiative, the Youth Development Program (YDP). Our target audience is middle & high school boys and girls and the goal is to develop young men and women with an understanding of religion to incorporate into their everyday lives.
The program consists of Qur'anic education and sports activities. We are initially beginning with a bi-weekly overlapping time schedule, with the hopes of growing into a weekly consistent program. The sessions will be moderated by our new youth coordinator, Ahmad Saqr.

 Every community has a narra
tive. Either that community controls the narrative or the narrative cont
rols the community. Now more than ever the American Muslim community has to take control of the narrative. This can only be achieved if as a community we are building bridges and inroads with media. Media outlets want to cover stories and do pieces that people are interested in. They want viewers, readers, comments, and discussions. It is critical that as a community we are more visible and more vocal in the media.
We have been blessed for wide and positive coverage of the Center. When there is positive coverage we must all give feedback and acknowledge and appreciate the work of the media. Please take a few minutes to review the media links and give positive feedback where you feel comfortable.
