Dear Girl Scout Family

Have you heard about our Girl Scouts in ACTION, our new after-school series for girls?

Last September we rolled out our first ever series, Girl Scouts in ACTION (Agents of Change To Improve Our Neighborhoods), a 6-session after-school program for girls. During Girl Scouts in ACTION, girls meet with volunteers for two-hour sessions. Each session includes exercise, homework help, snack, and Girl Scout Journeys leadership experiences.

Girl Scouts in ACTION is another a great option for girls who may not be able to commit to a full troop year or where there are no troop openings in her community. She can continue her Girl Scout experience when the series is over by attending other Girl Scout programs and events as well as attending camp. Girls who are currently involved in a troop can participate in a series, too!

Are you interested in volunteering to bring a Girl Scouts in ACTION series to your community? Council staff are here to assist you by providing curriculum, supplies, marketing, scholarships for girls, and training. please contact us today for more information or visit the Series page of our website to learn about our current series locations.

Have a great week, Girl Scouts!

National Girl Scout

Recruitment Week

First Lady Michelle Obama highlights the important role played by Girl Scout volunteers in a new video released this week by Girl Scouts of the USA. The video coincides with the launch of the organization's new national campaign to increase recruitment of girl members and adult volunteers while highlighting the fun, excitement, and anticipation that is part of the Girl Scout experience.

First Lady Michelle Obama currently serves as Girl Scouts of the USA's Honorary National President. By accepting the position in 2009, Mrs. Obama took her place in a tradition stretching back to 1917, when First Lady Edith B. Wilson became the first Honorary National President of the Girl Scout Movement. Since then, each successive First Lady has served in this post.
