Just when you think it can't get any worse, up pops another scandal at the White House. If the lives and rights of real people weren't at stake, it'd be funnier than an old movie of the "Keystone Cops."
It's hard to believe that the president of the United States is aggressively trying to strip away constitutional rights that make our country the greatest country in the world. However, every time rights are violated, Americans are inspired to work for justice. That's what we do. That's why Americans are participating in marches and rallies in numbers too large to ignore. Citizens of other countries are feeling our pain and, in solidarity, they are, showing support in similar ways.
Some political groups take time off in non-election years to hibernate until the next election. However, we no longer have that luxury. As American poet Robert Frost wrote: "...[We] have promises to keep; And miles to go before [we] sleep ..." Indeed, we do.
This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we have to act accordingly. We can't wait until the next election year to grab the baton. We need all hands on deck now to make the preparations necessary to elect Democratic candidates who will restore our constitutional rights and our ethics rules.
After announcing our ongoing efforts (to register voters, distribute and collect vote-by-mail applications, locate and solicit new Democratic voters, and coordinate with resistance efforts of like-minded groups), the number of volunteers has only increased. The momentum inspired by the November 2016 election has turned into a tsunami of support.
On March 4, 2017, your Dallas County Democratic Party (DCDP) will launch "Operation Blue", our ongoing project for race readiness. This project is ambitious in time, volunteers and commitment. However, we ask no more of everyone than we are willing to do ourselves.
We are building a countywide structure to accommodate all areas of the county and to implement Operation Blue throughout Dallas County. We need precinct chairs and other Democratic leaders to serve as area captains. If you are willing to serve, contact DCDP Executive Director Carmen Ayala at firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at 214-821-8331.
With Operation Blue, we are connecting and empowering the Democrats of Dallas County. Join us in whatever capacity you can. Complete the form here and tell us how you wish to participate. Additionally, you can support the Party in any of the following ways:
