Labor Day Hours

The main library and the Farms branch will be closed for Labor Day weekend: Saturday, September 5 through Monday, September 7, 2015. A reminder that the main library is closed on Sundays, and the Farms branch is closed on Saturdays, through September. Extended weekend hours will resume in October. (The Farms branch is closed on Sundays year round).
Full Weekend Hours Resume in October  

Sunday hours at the main library will resume as of Sunday, October 4, 2015. The library will be open on Sundays from 1—5 PM until Memorial Day weekend 2016. Saturday hours at the Farms branch (10 AM—5  PM) will resume as of Saturday, October 3, 2015 and will also continue until Memorial Day weekend 2016. 

Check Out Our Newest Telescope (Literally!)

Thanks to the Friends of the Beverly Public Library, we are pleased to announce that the library has acquired its second Orion 4.5 inch Starblast tabletop telescope that can be checked out just like a book or DVD. The telescope must be reserved through the Children’s Room and may be borrowed for up to seven days.  Read more here!
Special "Friendship & Peace" Story Time

Please join the Beverly Public Library and Endicott College’s LIGHThouse Leadership Society at 10 AM on Friday, Sept. 11 for a story time celebrating friendship and peace. We will read stories, sing songs and make a craft. This program is best suited for ages 3 to 6. No registration required. See more about the origin of this program on our Kids Page.
Children's Room

Topsfield Fair Prize Packets must be picked up by noon on Saturday, September 12, 2015! Fall children's programs will begin again the week of September 13, 2015. These include Fall Story Times, "What's the Big Idea?" Math and Science Story Time (ages 4-6), The Realm of Readers 4th & 5th Grade Book Club, and the Science & Astronomy Club for grades 1 through 5 (this session will be all about Pluto!). Teen Happenings

“Unmask!” Summer Reading Wrap Up!
Teens are back in school, and summer reading has officially ended. We are proud to share that we had 222 teens register for our Teen Summer Reading program this year, and a total of 493 attendees at our 14 teen summer events! Teens that have qualified for Topsfield Fair ticket packets can pick them up at the Reference desk any time the library is open. Check out our  Summer Reading Program pics !

"Monday Mornings" Begins September 14

Doug Stewart (“The Boy Who Would be Shakespeare,” “New England Mill Girls”) will open the Fall 2015 “Monday Mornings” lecture series on S eptember 14 with “Unimpressed with the Address,” a tale of the Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincoln, and Doug’s great-great-grandfather (and ornery newspaper editor) Oramel Barrett. "Monday Mornings" programs run from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Sohier Room. Light refreshments are available starting at 9 AM. Adults welcome - programs are free, and signup is not required.

You Don't Have to be an Opera Expert...

to join a friendly group of kindred spirits at the main library for an 8-week "Opera Appreciation" course that explores eight operas. Novice or a lifelong fan—all are welcome! Classes start Wednesday, September 16 in the Barnet Gallery, and will run weekly through November 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. September Art: Mixed Media by Don McPhee

This month, the main library is hosting an exhibit of paintings by Beverly resident Don McPhee. Our monthly art exhibits are located in the Sohier Room and are free and open to the public, and may be viewed during regular library hours when library programs or meetings are not in progress. Farms Branch Events
 
Fall Story Times at the Farms begin the week of September 20. And join us for these programs too! 
  • "Music with Dara" - Fri., Sept. 4 at 10:45AM 
  • "Talk Like a Pirate Day" - Thurs., Sept. 17, any time between 1 - 4 PM. Join us for a fun time with pirate crafts and activities. Arrrrgh! Pirates in costume are welcome if desired. For children, ages 5-10 years old. No registration needed.
  • Farms Book Discussion - Left Neglected by Lisa Genova, Thurs., Sept. 17 at 7 PM. 
And don't miss our free September art exhibit - a new body of abstract works by Beverly resident Carmela Martin. All are welcome to the exhibit and a free Artist Reception on Thurs., Sept. 10, 6-8 PM.
