ROSARIO MUSIC CONCERT AND HISTORICAL NARRATIVE
(Tuesdays - Saturdays at 4:00 pm at Rosario) 
Enjoy a presentation of music and photography that walks guests through the history of the Moran family and the Rosario estate with Christopher Peacock. Highlights of the presentation include the historic Moran Photograph Collection, Phantom of the Opera music performed on the Mansion's 1,972 pipe Aeolian organ with the silent film, stories of the Mansion's most colorful residents, and Christopher's original piano compositions played on the 1900 Steinway Grand Piano.

THE 6th ANNUAL OI CIDER & MEAD FESTIVAL
(Saturday, July 23, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm on theVillage Green)
Twenty of your favorite (and some new) Northwest hard cider and mead producers will be offering tastes from up to 70 varieties of ciders and meads to visitors in our big white tasting tent next to the Farmers Market. Those over 21 will be admitted for just $10 that includes admission, tastes and a commemorative tasting glass. A huge cider garden and wonderful music by the Dustbunnies; and singer/songwriter from Seattle, Isaiah Dominguez will round out a perfect summer Day!   At around 2:00 pm, the OI Home Brew Competition will take place. "LORD OF THE RINGS": ANCIENT OAK DENDROCHRONOLOGY WITH DAVID JORDAN
(Sunday, July 24, 9:00 - 11:30 am at Turtleback Mountain Preserve)
Dr. David Jordon studies forests, particularly the Garry Oak (Quercus garryana) forests that occur from Southern Vancouver Island to Northern California. He uses the analysis of tree rings not only to age old growth oaks but also to reconstruct a time-line of events that have impacted their long lives.
Walking with David among the oak forest areas of Turtleback Mountain Preserve will provide an opportunity to learn about the science of dendrochronology, the natural history of our local oak woodlands, and the status of the Land Bank's oak woodland restoration project. Easy to moderate walking with some elevation gain. Close-toed shoes recommended.
This event is presented by San Juan County Land Bank, is free to the public, and does not require pre-registration.

CALTECH PHYSICIST BARRY BARISH TO SPEAK ON "GRAVITY'S MUSIC": Einstein, Black Holes and Cosmic Chirps
(Sunday, July 24, 5:00 pm @ Orcas Center)
On Sunday, July 24, Caltech Professor of Physics Barry Barish will recount this spectacular scientific discovery in an Orcas Currents lecture titled "Gravity's Music: Einstein, Black Holes and Cosmic Chirps." Open to the public, it will begin at 5:00 pm in Orcas Center. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
Barry Barish, a leader of the international LIGO experiment that has recently detected gravity waves, will deliver a lecture on this mind-bending - and space-time-rippling - discovery, which was predicted 100 years ago by Albert Einstein and is likely to be rated as the scientific discovery of the decade.

COMMUNITY ZIP LINE & CLIMB DAY AT CAMP ORKILA 
(Saturday, July 30, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm @ Camp Orkila)
YMCA Camp Orkila would like to invite you to come out and take a ride on our 1000-ft Zip Line and climb our 55-foot climbing wall.  We will be holding by-appointment Community Zip Day on Saturday, July 30.  We will have zip times available from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. 
Being prompt is important so, please, plan to arrive at camp 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. Please, enter through the main entrance on Mount Baker Road and follow signs to the designated parking areas.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S SPOOKY TALES

"We ain't afraid of no ghosts!"  You might be after you attend the Historical Society's Spooky Tales - Ghost Stories With an Orcas Spin. You will hear hair-raising stories, told by Master Storyteller, Antoinette Botsford.
Pioneer Museum: Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm.  Crow Valley School Museum: Friday nights at 5:00 pm . Tickets are $10 for adults, $5.00 for children under 13, and $25 for a family of four. ORCAS ECSTATIC DANCE 
(Tuesdays, 7:30 - 9:00 pm @ Odd Fellows Hall)
Ecstatic Dance is a worldwide movement with gatherings in many communities and countries. Orcas Ecstatic Dance is open to locals and visitors alike. Facilitators create play lists to inspire. Individuals meet to experience the joy of movement. Ecstatic Dance is a drug and alcohol free event. Please, arrive by 7:30 pm and plan to stay until 9:00 pm as the music is choreographed to build and subside, creating a total experience.  Picture and video taking is discouraged as is talking during the dance.

WASHINGTON STATE PARKS 2016 FREE DAYS
Washington State Parks is offering  "free days" in 2016, when a Discover Pass is not required to visit a state park. This means you can park at trailheads or recreation facilities without hanging a Northwest Forest Pass or Discover Pass or paying a park or refuge entrance fee. Please note, free days apply only to day use (not overnight stays or rented facilities). A Discover Pass is still required to access lands managed by the Washington state departments of Natural Resources and Fish & Wildlife on these days. Thank you for your support!

ROBOTICS CAMP
July 18- July 22
Sandy Rost will teach two robotics camps at the Funhouse this summer using WeDo Robotics Kits to foster skills in building, robotics and coding.
Robotics camp is from 1:30-3:00 pm and is for ages 7-11.
The cost for this camp is $60.

New Zumba Gold Class: Zumba with Orcas Dance Fitness now offers a second weekly Zumba Gold class, Thursday mornings at 9:30 am at Odd Fellows Hall.  Zumba Gold is a moderately paced, low impact version of Zumba.

THIS MONTH'S ARTIST AT WASHINGTON FEDERAL : QUILTS BY JEANNIE HOFFMAN & MAGGIE KAPLAN
(New art every month)  
Washington Federals Artist of the Month for July is a collaborative effort in quilting. Join us Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, to enjoy quilts made by both Jeannie Hoffman and Maggie Kaplan. The art show is open to the public and will be on display through the end of the month. You truly do not want to miss these vibrant colors, or the craftsmanship involved in the making of these unique pieces. 


THE LAMBIEL (ART) MUSEUM
