2015 Oregon Solar Energy Conference a Huge Success!

The 2015 Oregon Solar Energy Conference was once again a huge success. OSEIA hosted more than 250 attendees representing 97 businesses at this two-day conference focusing on technical training, manufacturer workshops, business courses and an industry trade show.

The highlight of this event is that virtually the entire solar community in the Pacific Northwest gathers to celebrate the vibrancy of our industry. It was such a pleasure to see returning faces and all the new attendees. OSEIA is pleased to be able to bring such a successful

regional conference to the area.

We are booked for 2016. May 4 - 5, 2016 in Portland Oregon.

New Bill Introduced to Extend the Solar ITC!

As part of SEIA's comprehensive campaign to extend the solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), Congressman Mike Thompson (CA-5), has introduced legislation to extend the ITC for 5 years for both residential and commercial solar installations!

Please contact your Member of Congress and urge them to become a co-sponsor. This legislation is critically important to your company and our industry.

The "New Energy for America Act" (H.R. 2412) would extend Section 25D of the federal tax code for residential energy efficient property, as well as the Section 48 commercial ITC, for an additional 5 years. In introducing his legislation, Congressman Thompson, a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, said a 5-year extension of the ITC will give the solar industry time to reach "grid parity" in most U.S. electricity markets. It would also head off a disastrous "financial cliff" at the end of 2016, when the ITC is set to drop from 30 percent to 10 percent.

Solar? "It's a No-Brainer!" or is it???

by Jason Jepson

Solar has always been an ethos for me - a primary perspective stemming from cross-wired DNA dropped into today, a past time. For many of us, Solar is our essence, aspiration and spirituality. As Children of the Sun, all aberrant and slightly twitchy, we attempt to accelerate the inevitable; we dwell in a different dimension, our mind-eyes piercing the very laws of physics revealing a new present laced with latent promise - that copper-colored mountain where infinite light-fuel drips through boundary-less space to potent fields, which fluently transmute solar energy into inconceivable benefit. Solar Electric Incentive Rate Change

Energy Trust of Oregon has received sufficient reservations to fill the incentive allotment for Portland General Electric (PGE) Residential Step 2. This triggers a solar electric incentive reduction for residential customers served by PGE.

Effective June 3, 2015, Energy Trust is reducing the incentive rate and project maximum for PGE customers that purchase a solar electric system and for PGE customers with a solar lease or power-purchase agreement (PPA). We are now accepting applications at the new incentive rates available in
PGE Residential Step 3.
