Utilities Continue to try to Squash Solar!!!
OREGON'S SECOND-LARGEST power provider is an addict.
Pacific Power supplies electricity to more than half a million Oregonians and still draws nearly two-thirds of that power from coal-the dirtiest major source of energy. But at a time when the pope and president are taking historic stances on climate change, Pacific's biggest concern isn't trying to kick its carbon-spewing habit.

"It's a No-Brainer!"
by Jason Jepsen (part 3 of 3)
A Wise Guy told me, "Be generous selfishly. Practice generosity understanding it compounds and
returns to you when the appropriate causes and conditions conspire. After all, no one's ever got a
peach from an apple seed." (That actually may be changing.) Continuously lead with our ever
more-better expert generosity and the fruits will follow. Generosity (education sometimes) is a
long-term investment that requires a bit of discerning conviction. So are solar and sustainability.

SolarWorld to install a 250kW Solar Array at their Manufacturing Facility
Two weeks ago, representatives of Sunlight Solar Energy and SolarWorld broke ground on the project at SolarWorld's headquarters for the Americas. This is the third solar array installed on the site, which features electric vehicle charging stations and roof-mounted modules used
for demonstration and training. Both companies have been partners for many years but this installation marks the first direct exchange of services between both companies. Paul Israel, President of Sunlight Solar Energy states: "We're excited to complete this project for our longtime partner, SolarWorld, which is a crown jewel in the solar industry that creates jobs for Oregonians."

Lobby to Keep Solar Businesses Booming!!!
In North Carolina, lawmakers want to reverse renewable energy mandates and kill solar tax credits. In Nevada, a 3% cap on net metering is frustrating residential installers. In Colorado, the major utility wants to place prohibitive fees on customers going solar. In California, the public utilities commission is considering changes to net metering. Nationally, the ITC is in severe danger.
Clearly, solar installers have plenty to do to improve the market and political landscape in which they do work, but how does a political novice begin to make a difference? First, he or she must understand the challenge.

New Study - Solar Home Pricing
There is a
new report out by the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkley Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) about homes that have solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The study suggests that PV consistently adds value across a variety of states, housing and PV markets, and home types. It's a great study and interesting read!
