Contra Costa County Library annual book giveaway offers free books to the public
The Contra Costa County Library is hosting its
annual book giveaway from August 18 - September 4.

Tens of thousands of paperback and hard cover fiction, non-fiction and
children's books are available to the public during the 18-day giveaway.

The book giveaway is located in the shipping and receiving area at Library Administration in Pleasant Hill, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.

All books available at the giveaway have been removed from the library collection
due to lack of circulation, poor condition or relevance.

"Removing these items from our collection creates much needed space in our already crowded libraries across the system," says Collection Development Manager Deanna Lechman. "It allows for the addition of new and exciting titles that are in higher demand."

Books are available on a first-come, first-served basis and members
of the public are advised to bring their own boxes or bags to transport materials.

A September 1998 resolution, signed by the County Board of Supervisors,
allows the library system to declare outdated and damaged library materials as surplus
and give them away as appropriate.

Instructor Spotlight!

In a new program this fall, Instructor Myeve Capozzi, will bring more vocal opportunities for children and teens to the Orinda Community Center. Capozzi will offer; Group Voice,Glee Club, and aTriple Threat Performance Camp.  Here is an introduction to Myeve Capozzi.

My love for singing began at an early age.  I began to study music first through the San Francisco Girls Chorus at an early age, then privately through Classical Voice lessons, piano lessons, and professional choirs. In College I majored in Music and lived in Italy to immerse myself in music and language.

When I started to have a family, I was able to pass on what I learned in my training to my daughters who had a similar passion for music.  In 2014, my daughters won Lamorinda Idol and, as a result of their notoriety, my business was formed.
My favorite part of teaching singing is working with young children. I have a background and credential in teaching pre-school and I love being around young kids.  I try to make the vocal technique understandable through props and games.  My goal is to inspire the young singer to not only develop a passion for singing, but also to develop personal confidence and professionalism that they can extend to every aspect of their lives.
