Public Works and Engineering Services

2016 Annual and Measure J & L Pavement Rehabilitation Project
The City's Measure L and J Program is funded each year through a combination of .5% Sales Tax (Measure L) and bond (Measure J) funds. The scope of work for this program consists of repairing/reconstructing the worst most used residential streets and the associated drainage pipes under the roadways. Click here to see the list of streets scheduled for repair in 2016 and their construction status. This week Bay Cities Paving & Grading, Inc. applied full depth reclamation (FDR) treatment on Amber Valley Drive, Singingwood Lane and Fallen Leaf Terrace.

North Lane Storm Water Mitigation Project
This week Bay Cities Paving & Grading Inc. (Bay Cities) provided room to the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District's (CCCSD) contractor to start their sewer replacement project along North Lane.

CCCSD's contractor needed access to the area where Bay Cities will replace the 48 inch storm drain pipe under North Lane. The City, Bay Cities, CCCSD and CCCSD's contractor coordinated this work to replace the deeper sewer line first and then replace the shallower storm drain pipe.

Once the CCCSD project is finalized and the replacement of the 48 inch storm drain pipe under North Lane is completed, the City of Orinda will apply final pavement along North Lane as part of the 2016 Annual and Measures J & L Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

2017 Annual and Measure J & L Pavement Rehabilitation Project
As part of the design phase and coordination with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) related to the 2017 Annual and Measure J & L Pavement Rehabilitation Project, Badger Daylighting Corporation (Badger) is performing potholing activities in several Orinda roadways to determine the depth of PG&E gas lines.
Badger's activities will last until early December 2016 and it is limited to the paved area of the streets, no work will be performed on driveways or private property. For a list of streets where Badger will be working click here .

Santa Maria Park and Ride Lot Stabilization
Last week, the contractor completed the grade beam to connect the 19 stabilization piers on the hillside. They also began excavating for the new storm drain and pipe. Next week, they will finish installing the storm drain and pipe. Traffic control will be in place as needed.

Proposed Stop Sign at El Toyonal and Loma Vista
The City's traffic engineering consultant studied the eastern (downhill) intersection of El Toyonal and Loma Vista and recommended placing a new stop sign. Currently, there are stop signs at two of the three legs of the intersection. The City Council will consider the proposed stop sign at their November 15th meeting.
