OES Chiefs Sign2
Welcome Back OES Chiefs!

We are thrilled to be starting this new school year with many exciting events planned for our OES family. The success of our PTA is only possible through your support. We rely on your financial contributions as well as the time you spend volunteering. The events we put on and the assistance we give the school simply would not be possible without you. Last year, we reinvested over $40,000 into our school. This money was used for many things including new listening centers for our kindergarten, first and second grade classrooms. This year we are supporting a major initiative to supply the third, fourth and fifth grade classes with portable electronic devices to enrich the students' learning experience.

There are many ways to be involved such as the Fall Fundraiser, Spirit Shirt Distribution, Fall Movie Night, Thanksgiving Feast, Holiday Shop, Walk-a-thon, and end of year celebrations. This year, with the addition of several new events, we will need even more volunteers. Additionally, our related arts teachers are looking for assistance. Mrs. Craig, our fabulous music teacher, would like a committee of helpers to set up and decorate the stage for school concerts and other events. Mrs. Green, our terrific art teacher, is looking for volunteers interested in taking pictures and working with her on some projects. The old saying is "many hands make light work." It is with the help of all the parents, grandparents, guardians, and friends that we are able to accomplish so much for our school.

Please email us at  osceolapta@hotmail.com or myself at  nkouloheras@msn.com to get involved. The students and staff appreciate our help!

The entire PTA looks forward to creating new and exciting activities for our students.

Some important dates coming up are:
September 1st at 3:15 p.m. PTA general meeting in the staff development room.
September 2nd Fall fundraiser begins.

Thank you again for your support! We are looking forward to another successful school year. It's nice to have you all back,

Nick Kouloheras and the entire PTA Board

Family and Business Sponsorship Fundraiser
big-bills-money.jpg
Our fall fundraiser begins this week!

This year, the OES PTA is building on the success of last year's new fundraiser. We are encouraging students and their families to collect donations from our local businesses. It's a great way for our kids to raise money for our school and a great way for businesses to advertise! Money raised from this fundraiser will benefit our students directly through the funding of field trips, new reading books, student incentives, family events, and teacher allowances for classroom supplies. Families can also sponsor Osceola by making donations. Envelopes explaining the fundraiser and the prizes will be sent home in the weekly communication folder.

R e member to turn in y our sponsor forms/envelope on or before Friday, September 18th.

If you have any questions, email them to osceolapta@hotmail.com.

Thank you for supporting OES by participating in this fundraiser!
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Osceola Elementary School will have a volunteer orientation meeting on
Thursday, September 3rd
8:30-9:00am
Staff Development Room 2-101
Anyone new to OES wishing to volunteer should plan to attend this meeting. If you have previously been through an OES volunteer orientation and you are currently an OES volunteer, you are welcome, but not required, to attend. Refreshments will be provided. Any questions, please contact Dr. Chaprnka, Assistant Principal 377-7802

As a volunteer you have the opportunity to share your time, talents, and resources with the students of Collier County. Our volunteers are a critical part of providing a quality education for all students.

The District School Board of Collier County requires all prospective volunteers to complete a screening process.  The volunteer screening process is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our students.

All prospective volunteers begin the screening process by completing an online application.

Following the completion of the online application, all prospective volunteers are screened through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Sexual Offender and Predator website as well as meet with a school volunteer contact to receive a volunteer orientation.  Following this process, prospective volunteers are able to volunteer as a Level I Volunteer.  Level I Volunteers are supervised by a member of school staff at all times.

PTA would like to thank KC Thorsen for coordinating the ordering and distribution of this year's school supply boxes. Many parents appreciate the convenience of this service, and a lot of work goes into making sure the boxes are ready for Meet the Teacher day.

Additionally, KC had some great helpers this year, and we would like to extend our appreciation to:

Danielle, Mallory, and Victoria Poff
Susan, Quintan, and Kent Bane
Margaret Frino
Mr. Mike Fernandez and the custodial staff
All of the other parents and students who took the time to assist KC with this big project.

There were many people helping during a very busy time, and we apologize if we missed anyone.

Teacher Appreciation Committee News

OSCEOLA TEACHERS AND STAFF,
WE THANK YOU.

apple-sm.jpg
The heart of our school is the people who work directly with our children each and every day to help them be the best that they can be. In the face of even greater challenges this year, with new standards to learn and increased pressure to achieve, we want to take a minute to tell our teachers how much we appreciate everything they do.

Teachers, you matter. What you do matters.

We will continue to be here to support you. Thank you!

The teacher appreciation committee was happy to surprise our teachers with a "first-week-of-school" treat. We look forward to showing our teachers how thankful we are for them with surprises throughout the school year.

Special thanks to Meredith Basile for leading this important committee.

We would also like to recognize the MANY parents who helped with donations of time and/or gift cards during last year's teacher appreciation week. We received many compliments and thank you notes from our wonderful OES staff. Your acknowledgement of their hard work was truly appreciated.
COMING SOON: OES SPIRIT SHIRTS

Once again, every Osceola student will be receiving a spirit shirt courtesy of the PTA. Order forms will go home in the next few weeks requesting each student's shirt size and asking for a donation to cover some of the cost of purchasing the shirts. Parents will also be able to order additional shirts. It is the hope of the PTA that everyone will wear their OES spirit shirt every Friday to show our Chief pride. Look for more information on this tradition in a future email.

CLINIC DONATIONS NEEDED

The clinic needs donations of shorts and pants in smaller sizes (kindergarten/first grade). Children in those grades more often need a change of clothing due to accident or illness. As your children outgrow clothes, please consider donating them to our clinic. Thank you!

RECYCLE YOUR PRINTER CARTRIDGES and HELP OES!
recycling_thumbs_up.jpg
Just a reminder that Osceola Elementary is collecting used printer cartridges for recycling. The money earned from this program will assist with technology funds.  Cartridges may be dropped off at any time during the school year.  This is an ongoing program. Thank you in advance for your donations!

box tops
Imagine what one child can do....

1 Box Top per month x 10 months = $1.00
5 Box Tops per month x 10 months = $5.00
10 Box Tops per month x 10 months = $10.00

Imagine what one school can do....

$1.00 x 700 students = $700.00
$5.00 x 700 students= $3,500.00
 $10.00 x 700 students= $7,000.00
