"Our Only Security"
"It is better to take refuge in the Lord then to trust in man."
Psalms 118:8

God is the ONLY One who can truly satisfy your heart's desire for wholeness. When you feel lonely or disconnected, what you're really sensing is your soul's longing to be one with Him. And He alone knows how to bring that profound intimacy into your life that you need-if you will let Him.

I have a dear friend who has been rejected by his local church. He doesn't fit into any of the cliques, his principles of living are generally too high for the majority and his Gospel of a fully surrendered life to God is generally distasteful to other church members. He finds himself very lonely at church or at church socials. No, he's not a radical conservative, just in love with his God and with a heartfelt desire to know others who desire the same.

His danger is in an expectation to find joy and love in the community of believers, when in essence he needs to find it in God alone.

Once he recognizes this and turns to the Lord to satisfy his loneliness, he will be in a healthier position to receive the love and affection through the sources God chooses to send his way.

This is infinitely better than becoming emotionally dependent on people and organizations. In the end they will leave you empty, unfulfilled and looking for something else. For proof of this just think about Jesus' life or the life of the prophets--they all had to find themselves secure in God and God alone. Sad but true!

       Some Scriptures on this:

Colossians 2:10 "You are COMPLETE in Him."

Matthew 11:8 "Come unto Me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I
       will give you rest."

2 Corinthians 12: 9 "My grace is sufficient for thee."

Jeremiah 17:5:7 "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his
strength... Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the
       Lord."

Acts 17:28 "For in Him we live and move and have our being."

God is allowing my friend to go through a process that is very uncomfortable and that is removing all false dependence upon others. God is allowing him to discover that only He can make him complete and that he must trust in Him alone.

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you right now?

God is the ONLY One Who can fill you-truly fill you and make you whole! If you rely upon people or organizations, they will always fail you. God often permits those in whom we place confidence to fail us, in order that we may learn the folly of trusting in man and making flesh our arm.

As I've analyzed when I've been the happiest in my life, it has been when my soul is at rest with God and my ambitions are surrendered to Christ. It is when all my expectations have been laid at Jesus' feet.

You need to understand that the Lord is a jealous God. He wants a close relationship with you, actually one where He takes you by the hand and you walk with Him. If He sees that you're relying on people and organizations to do what only He can do, He finds a way to disrupt your dependency on them.

He wants you to understand that only He can provide everything you need to live a peaceful, joyful, fulfilling life. So look to Him first and foremost to satisfy the needs of your heart. Make Him your refuge, your comfort, your all and in all, for "You are complete in Him." Colossians 2:10

Making God all and in all,
