Dear Fellow Dallas County Democrat:
Since my election four months ago, our Party has been expanding our base. While the Republican Party has become more and more restrictive, the Democratic Party has become more diverse. The more people and diverse groups who have a voice in the democratic process, the stronger our Party. There is room for everyone. With the help of Democrats such as yourself, together with a wonderful DCDP staff, we have taken the following action to make our Party more inclusive:
- Revived the DCDP Diversity Committee, chaired by Frances Rizo and assisted by Kevin Felder, Gary Foster, Nancy Wang, Shayan Elahi and Chris Nguyen to advise and assist the Party with action to recruit persons of all races, genders, ages, faiths and cultures;
- Planned, with the Diversity Committee, a Voter Registration Rally for January 9th to be hosted by State Senator Royce West, County Commissioner Elba Garcia, and Rep. Roberto Alonzo, to launch a series of voter registration drives throughout Dallas County.
- Drafted and published an African American Voter Guide and a Spanish Voter Guide to be used to enhance voter participation and assist voter registration efforts;
- Appointed Party officers who reflect the diversity of Dallas County voters.
