The Fieldhouse of Kansas City celebrates early success with Grand Opening festivities

Overland Park, KS - Since opening its doors, The Fieldhouse of Kansas City has been buzzing with excited athletes, coaches and families. Featuring pristine tournament courts, the newly-renovated facility is the only indoor basketball and volleyball complex in the Kansas City metro area. Since June, the 81,000 square foot facility has played host to four major tournaments including the KC Hardwood Classic. Over the course of the next year it plans to host between 25 to 30 basketball tournaments and 12 volleyball, tae kwon do, and wrestling tournaments.

 Features of the facility include: 

• Six full length basketball courts convertible into 10 volleyball courts
• Newly renovated locker rooms
• Space for private events
• VIP Coach's Suite
• Seating for 1400 spectators
• Grill and juice bar
• The Shooting Lab featuring Shooting Gun 8000: the only open-to-the-public shooting machine in Kansas City, which pops up 200 shots an hour.

"The Fieldhouse of Kansas City is the only facility of its kind in the metro and the region," said Troy Paul, owner of The Fieldhouse of Kansas City. "With the number of kids participating in sports growing every year, we provide a much needed resource to busy and active families, while also being large enough to host multiple tournaments, contests, and competitions simultaneously."

The public grand opening is this Saturday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a free day of family-friendly games, events and giveaways.

Grand Opening events include:

• 10 a.m. to Noon: Free breakfast for children, goodie bags, face painting, balloon art, magicians, bounce house and inflatables, plus pictures and autographs with the Jayhawks' Baby Jay. Giveaways and prizes will be awarded hourly, and Mix93.3 will be onsite for a live remote.
• Noon to 3 p.m.: Free kids basketball clinic with the Avila University Men's Basketball team. Also, a live performance by a local drill team and delicious sampling of foods from local PB&J Restaurants, including Red Robin and Yia Yia's.
• 3:30 p.m.: Grand Prize Giveaway from McCarthy Auto (must be present to win).
• The Fieldhouse of Kansas City is also partnering with The Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City and attendees will have the opportunities to learn more about the organization and how to become a member.
