With a new year comes a new opportunity to become more engaged in your child's learning. Please take a moment to read about some online resources and upcoming activities that you and your family may enjoy. UTSA P-20 Parent Engagement Program Presentations- Register Now

UTSA's Institute for P-20 Initiatives Parent Engagement Program seeks to provide resources to assist parents in guiding their students in early academic success planning from k-12 through college and career.

Through a collaboration with the SEE Math Program, we will offer workshop sessions throughout Spring, 2018. The topics will focus on career pathways, financial aid for college, college requirements for admissions, and high school graduation plans.

Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP) is Accepting Applications for Summer 2018 - Deadline-February 14th

The University of Texas at San Antonio  (UTSA) announced today the Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP) is accepting applications for summer 2018 enrollment. The program serves high-achieving students in grades six through eleven with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
UTSA SEE Math Program Now Registering For Spring
Do you know a 1st-5th grader that wishes to improve in their problem solving skills? SEE Math offers support and enrichment in math (with STEM connections) through hands-on approaches and meaningful connections.

New Childcare Program for UTSA Downtown Campus Students
Students who take classes at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Downtown Campus now have a place to take their children while they’re learning. Lil’ Roadrunners Children’s Evening program provides care, learning activities and enrichment for children whose parents are enrolled in evening classes at the UTSA Downtown Campus.
February is Black History Month

Black History Month events will take place at many locations across the city during the month of February. Learn more.
Girl Day At UT Austin is Feb. 24th from 11:30 am-5 p.m.

Students and their parents or educators are invited to UT for an afternoon of engineering fun. UT's national award winning Girl Day, presented by the Women in Engineering Program (WEP), gives over 8,000 elementary and middle school students a chance to explore engineering through Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day grade-specific, hands-on engineering activities and explore engaging demonstrations hosted by volunteers, student organizations, corporate partners and community organizations, have fun exploring computer science and all of STEM through hands-on STEM activities and engaging demonstrations hosted by volunteers, student organizations, corporate partners and community organizations in the Girl Day STEM Festival, and interact with over 150 organizations and over 1300 students, faculty and engineers from industry
The 2018 Asian Festival is February 17th at the ITC

The Institute of Texan Cultures invites Texas and Texans to the Asian Festival. What began as a traditional family reunion for the Chinese New Year has expanded to include other Asian communities and participants, showcasing their unique culture and traditions.
Khan Academy is a Free Online Learning Resource for All Ages

Here is a free resource that you need to learn more about.. ""Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps." 
2nd Annual Let's Talk: College and Career Readiness presented by Lackland ISD Feb 22 4-6 pm Lackland Elem & Stacy Jr/Sr High School

A comprehensive evening of resources to help inform our entire community about college and career planning supporting PK-Post Secondary. 30 minute presentations on the topics will be scheduled such as: Early College, Financial Aid (planning and FAFSA), Student Loans (Ins/Outs), Navigating the Admissions Process, SAT/ACT Testing, creating a college readiness culture in your home, Tutor.com, Post 911 GI bill, Scholarships, STEM and Summer Enrichment Programs, Educational Field Experiences, Volunteer opportunities and more.  802 FSS Education Division will be hosting a College Fair on site with 25+ colleges

Both events are appropriate for K-12 and you do not have to be registered in the district to attend.
