This meeting will feature a demo in
The Art of Printmaking

    Monoprinting techniques will be demonstrated using Geliplates & plexiglass plates. Methods for creating textures will be covered including the use of stencils, found objects, marking tools, etc. Relief Printing will be presented by creating collagraph plates & carved soft blocks. The alternative process of "photo-transferring" will also be presented.



 



Michelle Mixell
As a former urban planner/consultant, Michelle spent 17 years in the urban planning & design profession helping local governments envision positive change for their communities.  For the past 10 years, she has had the joy of teaching yoga/mindfulness meditation and is currently completing her Teaching Certification in Art (K-12).  Her interest in the built environment and desire to live a simpler and more mindful life, inspires the direction of her art work.
 
Michelle studied art and urban studies at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), in Richmond, Virginia, and holds a Master's Degree in City & Regional Planning from The Ohio State University (OSU).   Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, she lives in Plano with her husband, John; their 10 year old son, Blake; and two spoiled orange cats.
  
If you are new to PAA or would like to visit for the first time, we welcome you to bring a piece of your artwork to share with the group.
