PAGE's Green Economy Forum fosters sustainable economic development in Mauritius


From 9 to 11 May, the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE), together with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development in Mauritius jointly organized a Green Economy Forum.

Senegal holds 3rd National Conference on Sustainable Development

From 29-31 May 2018, Senegal held the 3rd edition of its National Conference on Sustainable Development, with the theme of “Sustainable and Healthy Exploitation and Management of Gas and Oil Resources” in the city of Diamniadio.
Measuring progress towards green economy in South Africa

To advance the establishment of the green economy progress framework, PAGE, the Department of Planning (DPME), Monitoring and Evaluation, and the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) of South Africa jointly organized a national training and a stakeholder engagement workshop on indicators for green economy policymaking.

 
COUNTRY UPDATES
Uruguay: PAGE and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining organized a capacity building event on international markets for valuable materials from waste, with participation by 25 representatives of national and departmental government institutions, chambers of commerce and waste management companies participated.

The missing science: Could our addiction to plastic be poisoning us?

The fact is that while we are acutely aware of the alarming rising tide of plastic waste, there is not a great deal known about the long-term health impacts of this pollution crisis. What we do know is that our addiction to convenience has placed it everywhere: leaching into food from kitchens, restaurants and supermarkets; floating in microscopic particles in our drinking water; drifting in the oceans and choking wildlife and ecosystems. The ubiquity of plastics, and the increasing evidence that we are ingesting, many of them in microplastic form, demands a closer examination of the health implications.

Since its inception in 2013, the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) has grown into a prominent alliance of five UN agencies , eight funding partners and thirteen countries that work together to transform economies into drivers of sustainability by addressing pollution, unemployment, stagnated growth, and socio-economic inequalities.

Thanks to this integrated approach and support of a wide range of partners , PAGE is increasingly recognized as a model to deliver coordinated support to countries for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and targets of the Paris Agreement .

PAGE has developed a set of services and tools , capacity building portfolio and partnerships to:
