President's Message
PAPPA is on a roll! In just the last month we've thrown hatchets (at targets, not at each other), had overwhelming attendance at our first South Jersey Client Expo and 48 people participated in the annual Golf outing. Thanks Mike Valentini for serving as golf chair for the event.
What can we do to keep the ball rolling? A Beach Party at Expo East! Plus other fun events planned for this Summer and Fall.

Thank You for Supporting PAPPA's 1st South NJ Show
Super Show. Well-attended.
Thank you to all of the suppliers who exhibited at the show! Thank you to the 23 distributor companies who attended and invited clients. Total attendance was 354
clients and distributors.

Bury the Hatchet... Fun Event!
Thank you for supporting the Bury the Hatchet Event on April 25 in Cherry Hill, NJ. No one knew what to expect, but we all quickly learned how fun it was! Congratulations to Gary Cervi who won the overall competition.

PPAI L.E.A.D. Wrap Up

PPAI L.E.A.D was a two day event held last week, May 16th and 17th during promotional products work week! There were 80 participants from across the country representing our industry. I represented team SAAGNY and met with the following representatives and their staff: Senator Cory Booker- NJ, Senator Robert Menendez- NJ, Representative Josh Gottheimer- NJ, Representative Thomas MacArthur- NJ, Representative Frank Pallone Jr-NJ and Representative Bill Pascrell Jr-NJ. We discussed many topics and challenges that face our industry, the four key point were as followed: Promotional Products Work, Global Supply Chain, Advertising Expenditures and Preserving section 530 of the Safe Harbor Rule of Revenue Act of 1978 ( Independent Contractors).
- Promotional Products Work; we explained to congress that our industry is comprised of 40,000 companies, employees nearly 500,000 Americans while contributing $23.3 Billion to our economy. We asked for support to keep our industry strong while also asking to keep our interests in mind when considering legislation.
- The Global Supply Chain was one of the most important topics we discussed this year as the current administration is threatening to implement tariffs that could negatively effect our industry. We rely on the global supply chain, most products are manufactured overseas but once they're in the US, these products are decorated and then sold by American workers.
- Advertising Expenditures, we asked our representatives to preserve the current deduction standard. The current deduction standard is 100%, there have been proposals in committee that would bring the deduction to 50% but there is no current legislation that would change the deduction.
- Finally, we discussed preserving section 530 of the Safe Harbor Rule of Revenue Act of 1978 with our representatives. We urged congress to update our tax code to treat promotional product independent contractors the same as direct sellers.
The two day event was very successful. It was an honor and a privilege to represent the hard working men and women of our industry. I look forward to representing our industry in the coming months with L.E.A.D. local events and in the coming years!
