Welcome everyone to the brand new academic year of 2017/2018 and the first PARIM newsletter of the same. As Secretary of PARIM, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the new crew of recent medical graduates joining us, and to the returning resident cohort that have already established themselves as invaluable in the day-to-day functioning and future of our health care system. Please ensure you scan over the outlined features of this newsletter; as there is a plethora of novel and exciting events, changes, and announcements of relevance to us all! PARIM needs you to vote in this election to ensure that we can secure this position for another year.

Ballots will be sent electronically on the 14th of August and the election closes at noon on August 29th. Many Residents have told us that their ballots went to “junk” folders, so check yours to get the ballot and vote!

Upcoming Events
PARIM Wellness Book Clubs
Please join us for our first Book Club this year for an evening of stimulating discussion and fun at Fools and Horses, 379 Broadway on Monday, September 25, 2017. The event runs from 7 - 9 pm, and spots are limited, so RSVP to WELLNESS@PARIM.gmail.com. Snacks will be provided. The first book this year to be discussed is "Wenjack", by Joseph Boyden. Future titles for upcoming Book Club Meetings this year will be "When Breath Becomes Air", "In Pharoah's Army: Memories of the Lost War", "Brave New World", and "The Glass Castle" (by Paul Kalanithi, Tobias Wolff, Aldous Huxley, and Jeanette Wells; respectively).


PARIM Paint Nights
Join in on the classical fun of painting while being among the company of your fellow resident peers at Pony Corral, located at 444 St. Mary Avenue. The event starts at 7pm, no prior painting experience necessary. Dates of event are October 3rd and 5th, 2017.

Advisory Council
Don't forget to let us know before September 12 the name of the Resident who will be attending the Advisory Council on behalf of your Program: jburleson@parim.org

This is not a voting body - more like a PARIM Town Hall.  The Advisory Council will meet at at least twice per year; the first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17, 6:30-7:30 pm.
