Winter Storm Stella Was Perfect for . . . Reading! 

PARP - Pick a Reading Partner - is an annual series of programs at all three KLSD elementary schools that purposefully nurtures the joy of reading. 

Throughout the month of March, children are encouraged to share twenty minutes of reading with someone at home. At school, they enjoy  local VIPS coming to read, author visits, and other special activities.

KLSD Proactive About Internet Safety 

KLSD is working to help students understand and practice internet safety. Last week, Assistant District Attorney Robert Mayes visited our sixth and seventh graders to speak on this topic. READ MORE.

Dr. Ahunna Akoma, Director of Technology, will  be running sessions for parents on internet safety and digital citizenship in the coming weeks at our elementary schools. These sessions are supported by our PTA/PTO's and parents will find specific information about dates and times in upcoming PTA/PTO newsletters.

John Jay Places Second in Region at NYS Science Olympiad

John Jay competed against fifty-five teams at the New York State Science Olympiad on March 11 and 12, placing second in the Lower Hudson Valley Region, and bringing home three medals.
