SUPERINTENDENT

News from the Superintendents Office

Patricia Short has let the School know that she has decided to move on as she continues her international career.  We are deeply grateful for her contribution to our community and are glad we have her for the remainder of the school year.  We all wish her the best as she moves into this new part of her career!

With this news, PASB is recruiting a new elementary school principal for 2014-15 and 2015-16.  Dr. Johnston is working with assorting agencies and reviewing candidate files.  The elementary faculty and the PTA will also have input into the hiring decision, and we are looking forward to finding the best possible person as we move forward into our future.

What people are saying about Academy Kids

"I think the Academy Kids was a rewarding and most positive experience for the child and the parents, especially those, as in our case, who usually do not take vacation in January.  It was a way for our son to have fun, learn and be with other children in a period when he normally stays at home.  He did enjoy very much the Academy Kids.  Also, we were able to celebrate his birthday which is in January with his classmates and teachers". (Wu Git Lhion, Academy Kids Parent)

PASB Art Department

In less than a year, the 7th grade has put together an amazing band. They went from zero experience to a wonderful product that we wish to share with the entire PASB community.  Along on this marvelous opportunity to shine in front of an audience we have that valiant group of 6th graders who are now first starting their musical adventure. They are musically going to tell you a story of Aunt Rhodie's Appetite.

The ART room and Ms. Bebel have been extremely active this year as they are every year producing astonishing works of art.  Both 2D and 3D artwork will be on display. You will be able to experience the lovely work of art delighting your eyes while the music program also introduces the 9thgrade Choir that will be delighting your ears. Not to forget the talented class of Mr. Ted O'Connell's Social Studies group that will be performing sketches of a Renaissance nature.

The evening will be featuring many top performers at our school and 6 students in the 7th grade band have been practicing extremely hard on learning the solo part to What a Wonderful World.

Writing Assessment Program (WrAP) from ERB

On Monday and Tuesday, November 18th  and 19th all students in grades 3 through 10 will take a writing assessment in English.  It is very important that your child be present both those days and that they are well rested the night before.  We are pointing out these dates to you now as there will be a three day weekend prior to the testing and we want to make sure you know about this test so that you can plan your long weekend accordingly. There is no preparation that students need to do at home other than to come to school ready to write!  If you have questions, please contact Dr. Jacobs or Pedro Farini.
