Beverly Reed, Long-Time Receptionist at PATH Intl., Retires
If you have called the PATH Intl. office over the last 12 years, there is a strong possibility you have spoken with Beverly Reed. Bev, who has been called the voice of PATH Intl. by many members, retired earlier this month. Bev has been an invaluable part of the member services team. She was always willing to help members with their questions and help out her co-workers. Bev will be missed but we at PATH Intl. extend our best wishes for her retirement.
Meet the PATH Intl. 2014 Riders Assistance Fund Scholarship Recipient

PATH Intl. is proud to announce its 2014 Riders Assistance Fund $300 Scholarship recipient, Kall'el Griffith from BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding and Education Center, a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center in Harvard, IL.

Kall'el truly benefits from the healing power of horses. The very first time he arrived at the farm for his initial assessment, he displayed difficult behaviors. Then the horse walked into the arena. The horse, with a calming and non-judging presence, captivated Kall'el. He walked over to the horse and petted him gently on the nose--all as tears fell down his mother's face. Kall'el had never before shown such compassion.

Kall'el has now been enrolled in therapeutic riding lessons for two years and has begun to ride independently. While he has hard days and easy days, he is constantly meeting riding goals set forth by the instructor. He is more easily managed at home, and his mom said that she believes horseback riding is part of the very reason she can help him handle his behaviors at home. "Every Saturday, he asks me, 'horses now?' I would hate to ever have to tell him no because I can't afford it," said his mom. Thanks to scholarships and programs like the Riders Assistance Fund, she won't have to.

HSUS' "Now, That's a Walking Horse!" Grant Program
The Humane Society of the United States grant and recognition program, "Now, That's a Walking Horse!" rewards humane owners and riders of Tennessee walking horses. "Now, That's a Walking Horse!" is designed to encourage opportunities for the use, care and training of Tennessee walking horses apart from the traditional show ring. The program is open to all flat-shod, registered Tennessee walking horses being used in ways other than traditional show-ring rail classes, including therapeutic riding. Click here to read more about the program and download the application here.
