2016 FALL WORKSHOP AND TRADESHOW RECAP
Thank you to everyone who attended the fall conference and trade show in Charlottesville as well as a special thanks to our host, Becca White, Director of UVA Parking and Transportation.  The PAV Board hopes everyone enjoyed the event and all of the attractions and offerings of downtown Charlottesville.  The fall show had 140 attendees, seven sponsors, and 18 exhibitors as well as some great speakers and training by IPI's Cindy Campbell and Julius Rhodes of the mpr group.

The Board of Directors' main focus is providing industry education, training and development for front line and management staff, and networking opportunities to our membership. Not everyone in our respective organizations can attend the annual IPI and NPA conference, so it is important for all the state and regional associations to provide industry related training and education at a more cost effective and easily accessible location. Again, the PAV Board thanks our sponsors and exhibitors. They help keep registration fees manageable and we couldn't offer a successful 3-day event without their support. Below is a list of the 2016 PAV conference exhibitors and sponsors:

PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD WINNERS
The 2016 fall conference and tradeshow marks the first annual public service awards presented by PAV. The goal of the awards program is to formally recognize outstanding employees within our membership organizations. At this time, the categories include the top frontline employee and supervisor. The PAV Board strongly values employee recognition programs. We hope that the winning organizations will publically recognize and promote their employee that won the award and to encourage others to apply for the awards in 2017.

The winner for frontline employee is Michelle Potts from Old Dominion
Michele Potts
University. Michelle became a member of the Transportation & Parking Services staff when they were small, but growing organization. She brings a cheerful attitude along with extraordinary professional skills. She provides positive and flexible customer service to their internal and external users. Her actions mirror Old Dominion University's mission and values on a daily basis.

Ben Cave
This year's winner for supervisor is Ben Cave from George Mason University and SP+.  Ben has been the point person for a seemingly never ending array of very high profile visits to GMU from presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as mega construction impacts where roads and shuttle stops have been closed. Staff respects Ben for his work ethic, his leadership, and his open and respectful communication style. He has one of the toughest jobs in a very complex environment and handles it with grace and passion.
SPRING WORKSHOP * April 27-28 * Fredericksburg, VA
This year's Spring workshop will be held on April 27-28, 2017 in Fredericksburg, VA at the Courtyard Marriott. The 40-block historic district has over 350 buildings dating back to the 18 th and 19 th centuries with many buildings designed in the old Federalist style of architecture.  At this time, the PAV Board is exploring a new multi-day format for this event allowing members to opt for a single day or for both days. The format style may include a topic oriented symposium with round table discussions including a panel of leading industry professionals.  More information will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for future PAV updates.

NEW EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP
For those who attended the fall conference and trade show, you probably noticed a change in leadership on the PAV Board. Josh Cantor decided to step down as president this year after serving for the last five years. Under Josh's exemplary leadership, PAV has grown in terms of membership, annual workshops and conferences, and a solid professional reputation among other parking industry state and regional associations. Josh has helped guide PAV to its currently strong financial and organizational standing. The Board thanks Josh for his dedication and commitment to PAV.

The new Board leadership comprises of Rob Fries, City of Virginia Beach, as President, Lynne Lancaster, City of Richmond, as Vice President, Becca White, University of Virginia, as Treasurer, and Frank Kollmansperger, Entry Guard Systems, as Secretary.
