Amazing Tails:

Making Connections with PAWS

Ed Martin & Chase, PAWS Therapy Team

Congratulations and thank you to Ed Martin and his therapy companion, Chase, for devoting their whole day yesterday to makeup, stage direction, and filming for a 30-second Merrick Pet Care commercial.

PAWS member Wanda Kelly's son, Tim, works for the advertising agency that Merrick Pet Care hired to film the commercial. The premise is to show how much joy someone might get from a pet therapy visit - and, of course, the dog would get the same amount of joy from eating this yummy dog food.

After many starts and stops and changes in the planning process, Laura Ditmar of Cadia Silverside gave the OK to shoot the commercial at their location and found a wonderful resident to be the happy pet therapy recipient.  Chase and Ed were troopers doing take after take of entering the building, visiting with Margaret in the lounge, walking the outside trail at her wheelchair's side, and eating dog food - Chase did that last part all on his own and he did a terrific job of it!

Now that filming is over, we should place a star on the Martin household door. The commercial will be aired online - as soon as we get a copy, we will share it with you all.

Casting Call
Two Cats Productions in New York City is  producing a film that explores the complex relationship between  humans and animals today. The film will look at how animals are  connected to virtually every part of our lives be it as pets, assistance dogs, or  food and clothing we wear.

One angle this film will be exploring is the relationship between military veterans and their service dogs.
The idea of interviewing a Veteran with PTSD and exploring how their dog has enriched their life  is, to me, fascinating and powerful. I think you will be very pleased with how we present the story of the people we are asking to be involved.

We are looking for veterans who would be willing to participate. Please pass along my contact information should you know of someone who would be interested in sharing their story with us.
Thank you for your consideration.
