Happy 40th Birthday Big Sky Region!

In May/June 1974, Paul Rasmussin of Western Porsche Audi in Great Falls and James Mariska of Missoula began the process of forming a new region to more directly serve Montana's remote members.  Montana was then part of the Siver Sage and Can Am Regions.  It was a long drive to attend functions!

25 New members were required to form a region.  The December 1974 application was signed by James "Clem" Johnson (President), J.T. Masterson (Vice President), Patty Lewis (Secretary) Neil Trengove (Treasurer) and 24 members mostly from Great Falls and Missoula.  It was also signed by 1 each from Billings, Kalispell and Helena.

Silver Sage and Can Am released their areas of Montana in early December 1974. On January 25, 1975, the Big Sky Region Charter was granted by the PCA Executive Council.

Initial Officers listed in February 1975 were all from Great Falls:  Clem Johnson (Chairman of Board), Tom Masterson (President), Bill Lewis (V. President), Pattie Lewis (Secretary), Dr. Robert Dean (Treasurer) and Karen Rasmussin (Newsletter, Membership).  Area Directors were: Joe Dailey, Tome Hines, Scott Cranston and Amos Little.

The newsletter was called "2 PM News".

We hope that members in each part of Montana will hold local events to celebrate this milestone.  If you want me to promote any of your planned gatherings, just send me an email or call me.

"Drive Local":  Looking for Area Social Chairpersons:

Our Region covers a huge area of land.  In an effort to make "get togethers" a bit easier, we have divided up the region and are looking for Social Chairperson to lead each area.

To start, we are asking you to organize 2 or 3 social gatherings per year, give the information to Jeanette and she will promote it to the membership.   It won't be much work, we just need your creativity and knowledge of your local area.

We have a winner!! The new Zone 6 Logo. Hope you like it. Thank you to all that entered.

Happy New Year to all of Zone 6. The New Year brings lots of great Porsche friends, fun and adventure our way. Make sure you stay involved and are not missing out. The best way to stay involved is to be involved with you club: volunteer. "Adventure" you ask, have you looked at the Zone 6 Grand Tour? Starts in Tacoma, WA, July 25 and ends in Portland, OR, Aug 8, two weeks later after a clockwise route that drives in all 16 regions!

To our outgoing Board members throughout the Zone, Thank you! Your hard work and commitment to your club is very much appreciated and helps make PCA the great club it is. New Board members, you have some big shoes to fill! I look forward to meeting you during the upcoming year. Don't forget to say "Thank you" to your Board members, it is a volunteer job that they do for you!

Do you ever wonder how many primary members we have in Zone 6? I've attached part of a spreadsheet that shows some Zone 6 stats and the bottom line is all PCA. Our Zone 6 is the 6th largest region out of 13 total regions.

For those Regions that have "driving seasons", hold on, winter will pass. I keep reminding myself of this as I stand in the garage and dream of roads not yet traveled.

Don't forget: it really is about the people.
