Staci Perlman Remembering Dr. Staci Perlman
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the news of Dr. Staci Perlman's passing due to cancer.  Staci was a long-time friend, colleague, and a supporter of PEC.
Staci was PEC's first Visiting Scholar and worked closely with PEC on clinical research, policy, and advocacy works on behalf of homeless children and families.  She was a fierce advocate for the need for quality early childhood education services for all children -- especially for those living in shelters -- and made significant contributions to both the literature and the public discourse regarding this topic. Recently, she  played a pivotal role in advocating  for key legislation passed this past year that requires early intervention screenings for the 6,000+ children who are living in emergency shelters in Pennsylvania. In that campaign, Staci coined the phrase "Yay Babies!" that became the rallying cry for the advocates.
Staci will be deeply missed by many and will certainly leave a void at PEC because of the relationships she forged here, and her intricate involvement in a number of projects and advocacy efforts.  We ask you to please keep her 9-year old son Matthew and the rest of her family, friends and colleagues in your thoughts.
Thanks for Supporting PEC's
Summer Camp Programs!

It's hard to believe that the summer is already coming to an end! This summer PEC received over $3,200 in support of our summer programs.
Thanks to your generosity, the children living at PEC enjoyed a variety of summer activities, while their moms were able to continue participating in programs such as parenting classes, employment training and conflict resolution groups. On behalf of the families of PEC, thank you for helping us to provide a great summer for our families!

Program Spotlight:
Congratulations to the Summer 2015 Conflict Resolution Class Participants!
This summer, 15 PEC residents completed the first  phase of our conflict resolution program. Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in material focused on improving their communication, c onflict resolution and general relationship skills. At the group celebration, participants shared their growth and successes throughout the first course, and looked ahead to beginning the next phase of the program. The skills gained in the conflict resolution program have helped residents to improve vital relationships with their children, other PEC residents and staff. We congratulate these women on their completion of the course, and look forward to continuing to hear about its impact in their lives. PEC thanks The Transition Network, and facilitator Vivian Drayton, for their support in making this program possible.
