Corporate
 Partnership Helps PEI
Kids  Thrive

Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give." Our corporate partners not only donate funding, but they donate precious time and talent as well. As a community-based nonprofit organization, PEI Kids thrives on volunteerism and community support. Over the past few months, employees from several local corporations have committed their time and talent to help further our mission. These corporate volunteers support projects in our office and provide support for our programs and events.

On April 22nd,  NJM Insurance Group dispatched volunteers to assist our Prevention Programs department with assembling booklets and materials for Mercer County students taking our school-based Child Assault Prevention (CAP) workshops. On May 8th  and May 15th,  Bloomberg sent volunteers to spruce up parts of our office with a fresh coat of paint. Bloomberg also provided a team of volunteers to assist with our Annual Dinner & Auction on April 17th , helping out with raffles, auction items, the special appeal, and the live auction. In June, Janssen Pharmaceuticals will be providing a team of employees to help us brighten a few other areas of our office with a fresh coat of paint as well.

Corporate partners -- like NJM Insurance Group, Bloomberg, and Janssen Pharmaceuticals -- play a vital role in providing us with operational support.  We are grateful for the opportunities that they make available for employees to live their values and make an impact in the community through volunteerism. Many of these volunteer projects are conducted during business hours, so we are especially grateful for the time allowed, out of their busy work schedules, to provide us with such meaningful support. CJOOS Offers Outdoor Adventure and New Perspective
From May 2nd to  May 3rd  -- during one of our first warm weekends of the season -- Program Coordinator, Robert Fiorello, accompanied by our team of Bonner interns, took participants of the Comprehensive Juvenile Offenders Outreach Services (CJOOS) program on an overnight camping trip to the Princeton-Blairstown camp grounds, located near the Delaware Water Gap in Blairstown, NJ. Participants enjoyed two days of camping activities, group events, team-building, and outdoor fun. They also participated in a nature hike, followed by canoeing and nighttime talks by the bonfire while making s'mores.

"I didn't expect to have this much fun; I would do this again. I didn't even know we had all this in New Jersey!" said one participant.

Princeton-Blairstown Center provides an adventure-based, fresh-air experience offering transformative change that strengthens character, builds leadership, and encourages stewardship -- characteristics which last long after the conclusion of the CJOOS program. The trip also provides an opportunity for participants to see beyond the perceived confines of their daily routines and life in the city while building bonds and improving teamwork and problem solving skills. For more information about the CJOOS program please visit our
website or email Rob Fiorello at [email protected].
