TOM MONAGHAN WINS RE-ELECTION TO NATIONAL BOARD

Congratulations to Tom Monaghan of Fraserview Golf Course, who successfully retained his position as British Columbia's Representative on the PGA of Canada Board.
 
Due to recent changes to the National Not-for-Profit Act, Tom's re-appointment no longer allows him to serve on conflicting Boards. As a result of Tom's re-election, he will step down from the PGA of BC Board of Directors, effective Thursday April 24th.

The PGA of BC Board of Directors invites qualified members who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors to put their names forward for consideration to fill the vacant position, for a two-year, non-renewable term expiring at the 2016 Annual General Meeting. Please note that Candidates must be Class "A" Professionals to stand for this position.

To put your name forward for consideration, simply send an email with your biography by 12:00pm - Thursday April 24th to Executive Director, Donald Miyazaki - donald@pgabc.org.

PGA of BC Logo Head Professionals and Head Teaching Professionals have just two weeks left to fill out the online Employment Verification Forms for every PGA of Canada member employed at their facility.

 

We are kindly asking all HPs and HTPs to submit ONE form for every Member working at their facility (Class "A", HP, HTP, EP, Life and Candidate for Membership). Click here for the online form

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS DEADLINE ONLY 4 WEEKS AWAY
Only four weeks remain before the Registration closes for the 2014 TaylorMade & adidas Golf / PGA of BC Tournament of Champions Presented by Richport Ford at on May 26th.

The event features teams consisting of the club's Club Professional and Club Champion in a one-day competition marked by great shots and great camaraderie.

New for 2014, should members of a 'Club Professional' designated category be unable to participate, a Class "A" Professional from the same facility may take their place. Facilities employing only Candidate for Memberships may enter a team consisting of an Amateur and Candidate for Membership.

EASTER OFFICE HOURS

Please note that the PGA of BC Administration Office will be closed on April 18 for the Good Friday Easter holiday. The office will also have limited service on Easter Monday, April 21. Regular office hours will be fully operational at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22.

The PGA of BC wishes all its members and their families a great Easter weekend.

The PGA of BC would like to welcome Justin Evans (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club), left, and Bryan Scott (Olympic View Golf Club), right, as new Candidates for Membership with our Association.

Both Evans and Scott received exemptions based on their exemplary play during approved 2013 events.

We wish them the very best as Golf Professionals and look forward to seeing them at future Association events. Both are now eligible to play in local VIPT and Srixon PGA of BC Tour events.   
PGA OF CANADA FOUNDATION BURSARY WINNERS

The PGA of BC would like to congratulate four members who are amongst the 20 recipients of the PGA of Canada Foundation 2013 Bursary Program.


Earning bursaries are: Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community Teaching Professional Robert Ratcliffe (left); Seymour Golf & Country Club Class "A" Professional Colin Lavers; Capilano Golf & Country Club Class "A" Professional Courtney Campbell-Leveck; and Class "A" Professional Eric Thorsteinson.

 

The PGA of Canada Foundation Bursary Program is to assist, encourage and promote the attainment of professional development and part time education opportunities to enhance the skills and abilities of PGA of Canada Members and Candidates for Membership.

CONGRATULATIONS
The PGA of BC would like to congratulate Mi Sun Yoo of the Westwood Plateau Golf Academy for scoring 95% in her recently completed Class "A" exam. That mark is one of the highest achieved by a PGA of BC member in the last several months.

 

Congratulations to University Golf Club's Justin Min and Morgan Creek Golf Course's Jeff Lindemulder, who each shot one-under 72 on April 14 to share first place in the Srixon PGA of BC Tour event at Quilchena Golf & Country Club. Min and Lindemulder each take home $550.

 

Congratulations also go to Gallagher's Canyon Golf & Country Club's Jon Kadin and Fairview Mountain Golf Club's Danny Long, who shot 63 in the Interior Tour's Two-Man event at the Penticton Golf & Country Club to take home the $800 top prize.  

 

On the Vancouver Island Pro Tour, the big winners last weekend included Ben Griffin of Uplands Golf Club, who won the professional division of the Paddy Irwin Pro-Junior with a three-under 68 at Mount Brenton Golf Course. The team division was won by Gorge Vale Golf Club's Edd Boudreau, whose team of Justin and Kevin Bao and AJ Chartrand scored 109 Stableford points.

For sale: Bag Boy 3-Wheeled Push Carts, 35 carts in total.  20 carts in what would be considered "A" condition, all glide fairly straight and all hinges and brakes work - $25/cart or $500 for all 20.  15 carts in what would be considered "B" condition, they might curve off to one side and one or both brakes do not work - $15/cart or $225 for all 15.  If you take all 35 carts, you can save $50, as it will be $675 for all 35.

Justin Evans's application to the PGA of Canada has been accepted and becomes a Candidate for Membership at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club.

 

Bryan Scott's application to the PGA of Canada has been accepted and becomes a Candidate for Membership at Olympic View Golf Club.

 

Jay Park has successfully passed his Class "A" Exam and becomes a Class "A" Professional.

 

Mi Sun Yoo has successfully passed her Class "A" Exam and becomes a Class "A" Professional at Westwood Plateau Golf Academy.

 

Eric Thorsteinson is now Head Professional at Eagle Ranch Golf Resort.

 

Scott Ainscough has transferred to the National Zone.


Jeff Wills has left The Golf Club at the Rise and is now a Candidate for Membership at Sagebrush Golf & Sporting Club.

 

Ray Johnson is now the Head Professional at the Quesnel Golf Club.
