VANCOUVER GOLF & TRAVEL SHOW THIS WEEKEND AT PNE FORUM
The 2014 Vancouver Golf & Travel Show will take place this weekend, February 15-16 in the Forum at the Pacific National Exhibition.

This Show will once again give PGA of BC Members the opportunities to market their services, programs, and facilities. The PGA of BC will conduct complimentary lessons for attendees, as well as scheduled Seminars presented by PGA of BC members throughout the Show.

All PGA of BC members can get free admission to the Golf & Travel Show by showing their Membership Card at the door. 

BC NATIONAL DIRECTOR ELECTIONS NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN
PGA of Canada LogoAll 'Class A' PGA members in the British Columbia will have an opportunity to vote for their National Director in an open and widely accessible election conducted by the PGA of Canada this April.

 

An election for the Saskatchewan and Atlantic Zones is also taking place at the same time.

 

Members who meet the National Director qualifications may stand for election by completing the application form. Nominations for the elections shall be closed at 5 p.m. (EST) on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014.

PGA CHAMPIONSHIP OF CANADA GOES TO WYNDANCE

The PGA of Canada's marquee championship is headed to one of the country's most unique and challenging layouts.  

 

Sixty-four of the best PGA of Canada playing professionals will come together at Wyndance Golf Club in Uxbridge, Ont., this June and battle for the historic P.D. Ross trophy, which is awarded to the winner of the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf.

 

In 2013, Seymour Creek Golf Centre's Bryn Parry stood alone hoisting the historic P.D. Ross trophy high above his head, besting Billy Walsh of the Fairtree Golf Centre in Markham, Ont., 2-up.

 

The 2014 PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf takes place June 23-27 with the Mr. Lube Tournament for Life Pro-Am kicking things off on Monday, June 23.    
EDUCATION SERIES EVENT #3 AT THE HARVEST MARCH 3

The Harvest Golf Club will play host to the year's third Education Series event. The popular event will focus on PGA of BC members educating fellow members on a variety of relevant topics surrounding the golf industry. This year's event will feature several unique presentations on an array of topics.

Already signed up to present is Jason Kennedy on: The Experience and Opportunities of Change.  Jason is a Leadership and Change Management expert and has seen the words change and customer experience defined numerous ways over the years. With over 15 years as an expert in the fields of Leadership, Change Management, Employee Engagement and Customer Experience, his view is radically different.

ONLY 8 DAYS LEFT TO REGISTER FOR BELMONT PAT

There are only 9 days left for new applicants to register for the Playing Ability Test at Belmont Golf Course on Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 5.

Registration closes on Friday, Feb. 21 and there are a maximum of 18 spots in the PAT, with more than two-thirds of those spots already filled.

CONGRATULATIONS

Hearty congratulations to Highland Pacific Golf Course Head Professional Rob Cruise, top right, and his wife Jessica, who recently welcomed son Hunter William Cruise to their family. He was born on Feb. 10 at 1:30 p.m. and weighed a very healthy 8 lbs. Mother and son are doing great, although Rob noted that his "handicap has gone up by 3 strokes, so I'm OK too."

Big congratulations also go to Bear Mountain Golf & Country Club Head Professional Jordan Ray, who along with wife Andrea welcomed twins Henrik Hudson, left, 4.4 pounds and already breathing on his own, and Elsa Esther, bottom right, 4.6 pounds on Feb. 11. Jordan is proud to report that he and his wife have been able to hold the children for a little bit.

Barrie McWha has left the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club and his Application for Life Designation has been approved by the PGA of Canada.

 

Ron Aul is now a Class "A" Teaching Professional at Westwood Plateau Golf Academy.   


David Kuss is leaving Morningstar Golf Club at the end of February, transfers to the Ontario Zone and becomes Head Professional at the Greenwood Golf Club in Sarnia in March. 

 

Daniel Silva has left the PGA of Canada.

 

Ben McKendrick transfers from the Alberta Zone and will be a Candidate for Membership at Capilano Golf & Country Club.

 

Rod McLeod has left Nk'Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course and becomes a Class "A" Professional at Penticton Golf & Country Club.

 

Matthew Dunn transfers from the Ontario Zone and will be a Candidate for Membership at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club.

 

Doug Petrie is now a Class "A" Professional at Morningstar Golf Club.

 

Kevin Oates is now Head Professional at Morningstar Golf Club. 

 

Sean Lancaster transfers to the Manitoba Zone.
