VANCOUVER GOLF & TRAVEL SHOW A BIG HIT
The 2014 Vancouver Golf & Travel Show on February 15-16 at the PNE Forum saw hundreds of golf aficionados come by the PGA of BC Retail Centre where thousands of dollars of merchandise from Shaughnessy, Predator Ridge, Bowen Island and Strictly Golf were purchased.

In addition, the PGA of BC Learning Centre saw a fully-booked schedule filled with free 10-minute lessons from PGA of BC Members. Over 140 lessons were taught to golfers of all ages and abilities.

A big thanks to PGA of BC members Jeff Palmer, Clay Stothers, Tara Roden, Greg Pidlaski (pictured at right), Dave Zibrik, Andrew Jeffers, Myles Johnson, Dan Axford, Mike Vanderwolf, Adam Blair, Tom Monaghan, Alex Doucette, and Brent Mullin for volunteering their time throughout the Show.  
VERY SUCCESSFUL SPRING SEMINAR AT RIVERWAY
 

Riverway Golf Course successfully hosted the 2014 LessonTrax PGA of BC Spring Education Seminar Presented by Golf Trends and Golf Pride.

 

The two-day event, which ran February 17-18, featured great presentations from Bandon Dunes Director of Communications, Erik Peterson; Scott Kolb and Winston Michell of Fresh Golf Solutions; Brian Manzella on Teaching with Radar and Golf Swing Science & 20 Questions - What would you teach if you knew...; and a full day presentation from Fred Shoemaker on Extraordinary Golf.

WELCOME ALAN PALMER TO 2014 PGA OF BC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
At the PGA of BC's Annual General Meeting at Riverway Golf Course on Monday February 17th, the 2014 PGA Board of Directors was approved by the membership in attendance.

President Brian McDonald welcomed the newest Board Member, Alan Palmer, right, of the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, who won election to the Board in January. Palmer replaces outgoing Director Tara Roden, who McDonald thanked for her service.

Alan's portfolio will consist of overseeing the Association's Education & Events program, alongside Brian Hann.
EDUCATION SERIES EVENT #3 AT THE HARVEST MARCH 3

The Harvest Golf Club will play host to the year's third Education Series event. The popular event will focus on PGA of BC members educating fellow members on a variety of relevant topics surrounding the golf industry. This year's event will feature several unique presentations on an array of topics.

Already signed up to present is Jason Kennedy on: The Experience and Opportunities of Change.  Jason is a Leadership and Change Management expert and has seen the words change and customer experience defined numerous ways over the years. With over 15 years as an expert in the fields of Leadership, Change Management, Employee Engagement and Customer Experience, his view is radically different.

PGA CHAMPIONSHIP OF CANADA GOES TO WYNDANCE

The PGA of Canada's marquee championship is headed to one of the country's most unique and challenging layouts.  

 

Sixty-four of the best PGA of Canada playing professionals will come together at Wyndance Golf Club in Uxbridge, Ont., this June and battle for the historic P.D. Ross trophy, which is awarded to the winner of the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf.

 

In 2013, Seymour Creek Golf Centre's Bryn Parry stood alone hoisting the historic P.D. Ross trophy high above his head, besting Billy Walsh of the Fairtree Golf Centre in Markham, Ont., 2-up.

 

The 2014 PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf takes place June 23-27 with the Mr. Lube Tournament for Life Pro-Am kicking things off on Monday, June 23.

Dan Axford is now a Class "A" Professional at McCleery Golf Course and Academy.

 

JImmy Han is now a Class "A" Professional at McCleery Golf Course and Academy.

 

Alec Hubert transfers from the Ottawa Valley Zone will be a Class "A" Professional at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort on March 3.

 

Phil Krawczuk transfers from the Alberta Zone and becomes Head Professional at Lakepoint Golf & Country Club.

 

Amanda Baker has resigned from the PGA of Canada.

 

Lori Hamstra has successfully passed her Class "A" Exam and becomes a Class "A" Professional at Bear Mountain Golf & Country Club.    

 

Brodie Carle is now Teaching Professional at Predator Ridge Golf Resort.
