Pharmacies Charitable Foundation announces Steve Darling as the official Ambassador of the 2012 PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS. Darling, a major sports enthusiast and recreational golfer, is the Morning News Anchor at Global BC TV News. Eager to aid in the fight against ALS, Darling is lending his voice and status to the cause, in order to motivate people in communities throughout BC to donate and support the professional golfers raising funds for ALS patient services.
ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a neurodegenerative disorder that can affect anyone at any time. ALS readily attacks the neurons that transmit electrical impulses from the brain to the voluntary muscles in the body. Those diagnosed with ALS will experience overall weakness and eventually lose the ability to move muscles in their arms, legs, mouth, throat, and elsewhere. A person diagnosed with ALS will typically be immobilized or deceased within two to five years of their initial diagnosis. Click to read more.
