GEORGIA STRAIT CUP RESULTS
The first annual "Georgia Strait Cup", a Ryder Cup style format between the Vancouver Island Professional Tour and Srixon PGA of BC Tour, was held at the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club on March 17 and 18.

The vision of these matches was to form a bond with the other PGA Member's Tour and to thank those members for supporting their respective tour. The two teams, stocked with the top 10 available leaders of each Tour's Order of Merit and sponsors, played in four-ball matches on day one and singles matches on day two. Commissioners Rob Cruise of the VIPT and Ashley Zibrik of the Srixon Tour worked hard in conceptualizing and arranging the event.

The Srixon Tour team of Zibrik, Caine Lacusta, Shingo Akizuki, Mark Forrest, Larry Park, Cory Draper, Brad Clapp, Greg Pool, Callum Robinson, Tim Wilson, Branden Stewart and Justin Evans handily defeated the Vancouver Island team 11-6, including 8 of 12 points from the singles matches.

The Vancouver Island Pro Tour team was represented by Cruise, Connor Taiji, Aaron Grice, Cory Betz, Winston Michell, Matt Cella, Gordy Scutt, Matt Matheson, Terrance Drader, Mac McLeod, Chris Nordell and Glenn Bell.

Big thanks also go to Shaughnessy's Head Professional, Alan Palmer, on arranging the availability of the golf course and with the Club's chef to provide everyone a fantastic meal after the first matches.

The VIPT will get its chance for revenge in 2015 when it hosts the Georgia Strait Cup on Vancouver Island.
