PARTNER OF THE WEEK
About TaylorMade & adidas Golf :

It all started in 1979 when a 33 year old man, Gary Adams, decided to take out a $24,000 loan on his home and create TaylorMade Golf. With that money Adams leased a building in which three employees (including himself) created a driver cast of stainless steel.

Today, TaylorMade is one of the most successful and well made golf products on the market. Not only do they create and distribute great TaylorMade golf equipment but also Ashworth and adidas clothing and footwear.

The same values singled out 30 years ago by Gary Adams are still revered and practiced today at TaylorMade, adidas Golf and Ashworth as they continue to deliver products that help players of all skill levels reach their potential. Since 1979 their mission has remained the same: Create the Best Performing Golf Products in the World.

TaylorMade & adidas Golf is the Proud Title Sponsor of the 2014 TaylorMade & adidas Golf PGA of BC Tournament of Champions at University Golf Club on May 26th.

The PGA of British Columbia is proud to announce long-time PGA of BC Life Member Alvie Thompson will be honoured with the 2014 PGA of British Columbia Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Award, nominated by a special committee and approved by the PGA of BC Board of Directors honours individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the PGA of BC over an extended period of time through their actions on and off the golf course. This highest level of honour is not one that is awarded every year and has only been awarded seven previous times in the history of PGA of BC.

His impressive Professional playing accolades include winning three Manitoba Open Championships, winning a PGA of Canada Championship, competing in the Bing Crosby Tournament at Pebble Beach, but most notably in 1962, being invited to play in The Masters where he shot a final round 71 to finish in a tie for 28th place.

After his playing career, Alvie went on to become a successful Club Professional for thirty years, most notably as Head Professional at McCleery Golf Course from 1976-1994. He currently resides on the Sunshine Coast with wife Donna and in 2012, was honoured with a Lifetime membership at the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club.

An evening to honour Alvie's accomplishments will take place on Tuesday September 30th at Seymour Golf & Country Club in North Vancouver, BC. The event will be held in conjunction with the 2014 Cleveland Golf/Srixon Canada PGA of BC Club Professional Championship presented by Club Car.

Dean Kuntz of The Vancouver Golf Club is the account manager for the PGA of Canada Trade In Network in British Columbia and is trying to expand the program.

"Accepting equipment trade-ins is a great way to encourage members to purchase their new equipment from your pro shop," said Kuntz, who has sent out information packages on the program already.

Professionals who would  like more information on the program are asked to email Kuntz and he will be more than happy to answer your questions. In addition, people who sign up can begin accepting trades immediately.

"I am always an email away, so feel free to ask any questions," said Kuntz. "I'm a golf professional myself and have been using this program with great success. I have already walked through the process of sending product away and getting paid and it is a seamless process."
