The Quail Course at the Okanagan Golf Club played host to the May 22nd stop on the
Interior PGA Tour which gave new PGA of Canada Member
Greg Machtaler (Summerland G&CC) his first Interior tour victory shooting 70 (winning him $500) to edge out his fellow Summerland Golf Professional
Tye Babkirk by one stroke ($400).
Miles Pahlaniuk (The Okanagan Golf Club) shot 72 for a solo third place earning him $300.
Also, due to a scheduling conflict, the IPGA Event on August 20th, 2012 has been moved from Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club to the Tobiano Golf Course (assuming you are not playing in the PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship).
The seventh leg of the 2012
toothguy.ca VIPT Summer Tour was played Friday, May 25th at the Glacier Greens Golf Club. The 90 players in the Pro-Am were greeted by a great golf course on a spectacular Comox Valley spring day. In the Professional competition,
Cory Betz (Nanaimo Golf Club) and
Jason Andrew (Crown Isle Golf Resort & Community) both shot old man par (70) in regulation to tie for first place. Betz won the sudden-death playoff on the first playoff hole (the tricky par three 15th) to earn top purse of $700 (Andrew takes $550 for runner-up).
Dave Kuss,
Aaron Grice and
Kevin Maxwell all tied for 3rd place shooting 72 and earning $380 a piece.
Axle Riley's solo finish in 7th place sealed his lock on the Order of Merit lead, and secured the Tour's exemption in the
Canadian Tour Stop at Uplands Golf Course June 7th - 10th - the
$150,000 Times Colonist Island Savings Open - congratulations Axle - good luck!
