PHIL JONAS OFF TO MAURITIUS
Phil Jonas

PGA of BC member Phil Jonas is off to Mauritius in the Indian Ocean very soon for the season finale of the European Senior Tour.

Jonas currently sits 37th on that Tour's Money List heading into the season-ending Tour Championship being held on the remote island nation just off the coast of Africa.

Jonas recently registered his third top-10 finish of his rookie year with a 10th place at the Fubon Senior Open in Taiwan, winning just over the equivalent of $10,464 CDN. Jonas has made more than 42,000 Euros in 12 events and hopes to cash a big cheque in Mauritius, where there is 400,000 Euros at stake.

If Jonas can move into the top 30 of the Dec. 13-15 event, he would be fully exempt for all 2014 European Senior Tour events. Good luck to Phil as he chases his dream.

The PGA of BC is proud to release a tentative Education schedule for the 2014 season. The tentative schedule is as follows (subject to change without notice):

January 20th - Education Series 1 (The Vancouver Golf Club)

February 5th - Education Series 2 (Victoria Golf Club)

February 17th-18th - Spring Education Seminar (Riverway Golf Course)

HICKORY GOLF SUNDAYS AT UNIVERSITY GOLF CLUB
University Golf Club and the BC Golf House Society are pleased to announce Hickory Golf Sundays at the University Golf Club, a fundraiser for B.C. Golf House.

University Golf Club has donated tee times from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. each Sunday (until the end of February) for Hickory Golf.

BC Golf House is providing Sunday golf bags, each containing six hickory golf clubs. Every player will receive a 1920's replica golf ball to play with.

Mike Riste, historian for BC Golf House Society commented that "playing a round this way will, without a doubt, give today's golfers an appreciation of how the game was played in the 1920s."

Golfers will play 10 holes on the back 9 at UGC (including the alternate hole). The cost to participate is $30 per player and includes the green fee, rental hickory golf clubs and a 1920s replica golf ball. Closest to the pin and long drive contests will also be awarded each week. All proceeds go to the BC Golf House Society.

Riste said the first Hickory Sunday, on Nov. 24, was a huge success, with more than 25 golfers taking advantage of the sunshine to play.

To register for any Sunday, golfers are asked to call Riste, two days in advance, at the BC
Golf House at 604-222-4653.

FACT OF THE WEEK

DID YOU KNOW?

DSG TAG Systems  is a Preferred Partner of the PGA of BC and the TAG is the only Fleet Management System that comes with an internal "Smart Battery" to prevent drain on the primary vehicle battery. The Smart Battery will only charge itself while the vehicle is being charged while the TAG also displays battery strength on the user dashboard, which helps the operator eliminate sending out an under-charged cart.

In addition,
the TAG is the only Fleet Management that is completely modular so the operator can configure the system according to desired features and budget. The TAG operates independently as a back end solution or the operator can select one of two display options; the alphanumeric TEXT or the High Definition TOUCH.
