ABOUT  PING Golf Canada:

PING is a family-owned company founded in 1959 in the garage of Karsten Solheim. Karsten's frustration with his putting inspired him to design a putter, which made a "pinging" sound when striking a golf ball.

Today, PING is synonymous with innovation, quality and service in the world of golf. PING Golf Canada is a proud presenting sponsor of the Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship. Click here to visit their website.
TRADE SHOW FOLLOW-UP SURVEYS OFF TO A GREAT START
The 2013 PGA of BC Trade Show was a huge success, but in order to make it even better in 2014, we need your feedback.

That's why we've just posted three separate Trade Show surveys for Members who attended, Members who couldn't attend and Exhibitors, to get your feedback on what you liked and where improvements can be made at future shows.

We've had a tremendous response in the first week, with more than 150 surveys filled out, but we still want more feedback! All completed surveys will then go into two separate draws for $50 gift cards to the restaurant of the winner's choice.

We would like to thank, in advance, everybody who fills out the survey and we will take all suggestions seriously and try to implement those which will make our 2014 PGA of BC Trade Show even better.

PGA OF BC OFFICE CLOSED NOV. 11 FOR REMEMBRANCE DAY

The PGA of BC office will be closed for the Remembrance Day holiday on Monday, November. 11th. The office will re-open with regular business at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12th.
PALSENBARG CONTINUES TO LEAD PDP RACE
The fight for the 2013 PGA of BC Professional Development Program (PDP) title has tightened up considerably, as only three points separate the top three positions.

Matt Palsenbarg of Northview Golf & Country Club was the leader when the PDP points race was last updated, but his lead has narrowed significantly, with Gleneagles Golf Course's James Presnail only one point behind.

July leader Dave Zibrik of Seymour Creek Golf Centre fell to second in the last update and is now in third place, only three points behind Palsenbarg's 99 points.

The total purse of $6,000 includes $2,000 for first place, $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third, all the way down to $250 for sixth place.

Rounding out the top six are Jesse Crowe (89), Chad Scott of The Harvest Golf Club (85) and Derek Thornley of The Golf Institute at Fraserview (78).

The PDP race runs until the end of the year, with the final awards given out in January.

404 of the PGA of BC's 649 current members have registered at least one point in this year's PDP race. To see the full updated PDP standings, please click here

2013 PGA OF BC AWARD WINNER PROFILE STORIES
Rob Houlding was named 2013 Teacher of the Year.

The Professional Golfers' Association of British Columbia proudly unveiled the recipients of the 2013 PGA of BC Golf Awards earlier this month at a reception held at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.

With so many winners, we wanted each of them to get a little recognition so we're posting separate stories on each of the winners.

This week, we've posted stories and attached the links on Teacher of the Year Rob Houlding, Professional Development winner Brian Schaal, and Golf Shop of the Year Victoria Golf Club.

Check back each day to see what new profiles have been uploaded to the www.pgabc.org site.

GREAT RESOURCE FOR INFORMATION ON FROST

This time of year yields many questions from the golfing public on the explanation of frost and its effect on a golf course. Quilchena Golf & Country Club's Golf Course Superintendent Jason Hooper has written a great article on this topic and what the public should know. Please click here to read the article

2013-2014 INDUSTRY GUIDES AVAILABLE
PGA of BC Logo
The 2013-2014 PGA of BC Industry Guides are hot off the press and while we gave away many copies at last week's Trade Show, we still have copies available for pick-up at our office in Richmond.

The guides are a comprehensive directory of local, national and international suppliers of golf equipment and services. We encourage all our members to keep copies of the Industry Guide handy for future reference and we welcome any feedback on what members would like to see in future editions.

For those facilities outside of Metro Vancouver, we will gladly mail you copies of the 2013-14 Industry Guide. Last week, we had several facilities request them and your friendly Canada Post mailman will have them in your hands shortly.

If you want more copies, please call the PGA of BC office at 604-303-6766. An electronic version of the issue is available on the Members Only section of our website, under Directories.

PLAYING ABILITY TEST DATES FOR 2014

The PGA of BC office is in the finalizing our 2014 Playing Ability Test schedule and want to know if you have an event that may qualify. We are always looking for qualified tournaments which can act as Playing Ability Tests for new applicants. All prospective tournaments also need to have a certified Level 3 rules official working your event to qualify as a PAT.

Please send inquiries or expressions of interest to Alfie Lau via email at alfie@pgabc.org by November 29th.
