Come Zumba with Kandy
Hi, I am Kandice. I am ZIN; a Licensed Zumba® Instructor. I want to share my love of Zumba with you. I was not eating healthy and I was overweight. I needed to find a way to get healthy and back into shape.

I found myself at a local Zumba class. I loved it! Before long, I found myself happier, energized, and the weight was coming off. I found self-confidence and no longer felt self-conscious about myself.

Zumba is fun. You’re dancing, laughing and you don't feel like you’re exercising. Plus, there’s a warm friendly environment at every Zumba class. Join our classes and discover the exhilarating feeling that you get from Zumba.

Zumba classes at Putnam Health & Fitness Center are Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 – 6:30 PM. Like all group exercise classes at PHFC, Zumba classes are free to PHFC members.

Help Us Support ARK Animal Rescue
During the month of July, Putnam Health & Fitness Center is having its 6th annual fundraiser to benefit organizations providing medical facilities and adoption services for abandoned pets. This year, PHFC’s efforts benefit ARK Animal Rescue, which has their fosters at the Crescent City Kennel at 1952 S US HWY 17, Crescent City.

There is a shopping cart at the front door for the collection of dog and cat food, lightly used collars, bowls, blankets, pillows and pillowcases, cat litter, etc. If you are uncertain about what you can donate and what you can’t, please call 386-649-8785. We will also be collecting monetary donations.

People have their own reasons for donating to a fundraiser. What motivates one person might not motivate another. When the recipients are starving, sick or homeless four-legged creatures, this seems to motivate everyone to make a difference. Animals have an infinite ability to forgive, to love, to know somehow exactly what to do at any given moment, causing humans to plunge deep into ourselves to find our hidden reserves of goodness.
We're Looking for Instructors
As the popularity of group exercise classes increase so does the demand for more group exercise instructors. This is especially important during the summer when our instructors are on vacation.

PHFC is actively seeking group exercise instructors for all protocols and class formats. We are interested in talking with either certified instructors or those people that have an interest in becoming certified. Many of the certification programs can be obtained through online study and our existing instructors are available to mentor candidates through the process.

If you have an interest or a referral, please contact June Dryburg at 386-649-8784.
Art, Crafts & Stuff Sale
The 4th Annual Art, Crafts & Stuff Sale will be November 3rd at the Putnam Health & Fitness Center. November 3rd is the same date as Pomona Park’s Everybody's Having a Garage Sale. All proceeds go to PHFC.

Please consider donating any good used items that you no longer need. We can sell gently used household items: dishes, glasses, small appliances, linens, knickknacks, etc. Sports equipment is also popular with shoppers.

If you do crafts, we would love to have you sell your wares. Please preregister for a table early as tables and spaces are limited. Donations for spaces are $10 for non-members and $5 for members. For more information or to reserve sales space, call 386-649-8784 .   We do not accept large furniture, clothing, large appliances or non-working appliances, books or dated technology.

Five Foods to Skip if You Want to Lose Weight and Stay Slim
More than 20,000 new food and drink items hit our grocery store shelves each year and, with so much conflicting information about health and nutrition floating around, it can be challenging to know what you should and should not be putting in your body. Here are five foods with unwarranted health halos that aren’t doing your body any favors, especially if you’re trying to reduce or maintain your weight.

Fruit Juice
Eat your fruit—don’t drink it. Juice adds calories in a concentrated form without any of the fiber found in real fruit, which is one of the best reasons to eat fruit. When you juice fruit and discard the pulp or don’t include the peel, you’re getting rid half or more of the fiber. If you like the idea of juice for the flavors it offers, add fresh fruit to your water.
