Become an Ambassador for Young Heart
during SCA Awareness Month in October
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month
and PHW is inviting you to raise awareness by distributing updated educational posters to local schools, sports leagues and other youth serving organizations. The
YOU Make The Difference! poster campaign features one poster with the warning signs and symptoms of a heart condition, and one illustrating the Cardiac Chain of Survival. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will mail you the posters at no charge! Raising awareness saves lives.
Do you know someone who deserves recognition for their commitment to raising awareness of SCA in youth in their local community? Someone whose actions support the PHW mission of protecting youth from sudden cardiac arrest? If so, they should be recognized!
Nominations for the
6th Annual PHW Heroes for Young Hearts awards are now being accepted in several categories including Advocacy Champion Adult, Youth, and Medical or Allied Health Professional, and Young Survivor Champion. Nominees are not required to be PHW members.
Submit your nominations here. The deadline for all submissions is October 30, 2015.
PHW 11th Annual National Conference
Registration Now Open!
Register today for the 2016 PHW National Conference,
January 15-17, in Orlando, Florida. Join hundreds of parents and other advocates at the Rosen Centre Hotel to share information about heart screenings, public access defibrillation programs, legislation and more. Plus it's Martin Luther King's Birthday weekend - so extend your visit and enjoy the sunshine.
After almost a year of planning and work, the American Heart Association, in conjunction with Parent Heart Watch and several other advocacy organizations, has
launched a webpage that provides resources and templates for a new school-based Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP). The goal is for every school to adopt a carefully orchestrated response to cardiac emergencies in school settings, which ultimately will reduce the number of deaths.
Learn more here and forward the link to the schools in your community.
