We at Snowlion Rep are keeping busy this fall writing new works for the stage - meanwhile, PLAYLAB continues to help Maine writers refine and rewrite their plays and launch them into the world at large!  And our acting curriculum continues to shine!

Sincerely,

Al D'Andrea, Artistic Director

  PLAYLAB
kicks off its FIFTH SEASON!

PLAYLAB is a real Maine success story:

-  Members get to hear their new works read by rehearsed actors and receive thoughtful, lively feedback from fellow members in a safe, positive and constructive environment, all at no cost to the members!

-  More than a dozen works that were first heard in PLAYLAB have gone on to readings, workshops, and full productions elsewhere in Maine and beyond!

-  PLAYLAB was fully funded in its fourth season by the Cricket Foundation of Boston, allowing the company to pay actors, directors, and even the writers!

PLAYLAB meets once a month, and this year's schedule of brand new works is full up!  So far, our September and October readings (see pics below) have resulted in informative and lively discussions, and the playwrights are hard at work on rewrites based on that feedback, developing and refining their already fine work!

We hope you'll take a moment to HELP US FUND PLAYLAB in its fifth season with a donation.  Every bit helps us pay for space rental, insurance, fees and supplies like script copies and water for the actors! Click here for info on how to do that.

We are looking forward to another great year of helping Maine playwrights grow and develop their work at Snowlion Rep's unique contribution to the theater scene in Maine, PLAYLAB!

" THE ACTOR'S INSTRUMENT"
acting class
a great success!

Our most recent acting class "The Actor's Instrument: The Body of Acting Technique" focused on the body as the artistic instrument of the actor.  Led by Snowlion Rep's artistic director Al D'Andrea, the class wrapped up two weeks ago. Participants, who were enthusiastic in praising the class, had this to say:

-  "A lot of great information about what it really means to be an actor."

-  "I felt challenged but not overwhelmed."

-  "It forced me out of my comfort zone and helped me tap senses and emotions/experiences in bringing scenes to life."

-  "A week later, I am still thinking about how I use my body and how to prepare it for use."

Our next class is coming up soon!  See more below...

UNIQUE ACTING CLASS
Coming Soon!

SCRIPT ANALYSIS:
The Mind of Acting Technique

In its next and final "module" of acting classes, Snowlion Rep presents a totally unique workshop on how to  interpret a script and then apply techniques learned in the other modules to implement that interpretation and bring a character fully to life.

With an emphasis on the work of legendary actor and teacher STELLA ADLER (with whom Snowlion Rep's Al D'Andrea studied in New York), this class will present a total synthesis of all the elements of acting.

This class is not for pure beginners - it will be open to those who have taken at least one Snowlion Rep acting workshop, as well as actors whose work on the stage is known to the company.  If interested in signing up, contact Margit ([email protected]) or call (207) 518-9305 for more info.
