Take Action! Tell Congress to Renew NFIP Before July 31st
The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will expire on July 31st, denying necessary insurance coverage to homeowners and buyers nationwide. In Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas Counties, there are 33 communities that rely on NFIP to provide flood insurance on home mortgages. Urge Congress to extend the NFIP by clicking the link below.

Government Affairs Directors
Give Back
NAR's State and local Government Affairs Directors donated more than 200 toys to Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, as part of the 2018 GAD Institute. These toys will be distributed to children who stay days or weeks in the hospital. A surprise toy provides hours of happiness and perhaps some relief from their illness. During the holidays or on their birthday, this may be the only gift the child receives.

Don’t Be a Presenter—Be a Storyteller
Public speaking can be a huge challenge
for some, but numerous TED Talk presenters have mastered the art of captivating an audience through public speaking. How? They go beyond facts and figures to tell a story. You don’t have to be
a TED Talk-level speaker to incorporate these engaging techniques. By taking a storytelling approach next time you’re speaking in front of your office, a new client, or at a real estate conference, you’ll keep your audience intrigued, focused, and engaged.

How to Tell That Time-Wasting
Client, 'It's Not Working'
Breaking up is hard to do. There are many reasons for calling it quits with a client, though. Whether he or she won’t commit to a path forward for the transaction or stalls upon every request from a lender, appraiser, or contractor, you’ll likely need the skills to cut ties amicably with a time-waster at some point in your career. But while you’re accustomed to managing your clients’ emotions, you’ll also need to put a governor on your own in this sensitive and potentially contentious scenario.

A Roaring Success? Agent Uses
T-Rex to Market Home
They say everything's bigger in Texas, so
why not marketing gimmicks? Real estate agent Casey Lewis exemplified this by
using a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex to
Lewis strategically photographed and videotaped an inflatable T-Rex in Jurassic Park fashion around the home. The predator was shown mowing the lawn, relaxing in a
rocking chair, looking in the kitchen’s refrigerator, taking a shower, fishing on
the lake, and more.
